The MSV International Industrial Fair will once again bring together in one place the innovations that are pushing industrial production into a new era. This year, the largest Central European showcase of industrial technologies will take place at the Brno Exhibition Centre from 8 to 11 October 2024.

URBIS The Smart Cities Meetup, organised according to a new concept, was held at the Brno Exhibition Centre from 4 to 6 June 2024, with the aim of providing information to local government representatives on the opportunities for innovation and other actors in the innovation ecosystem, as well as examples of good practice.

As the 65th anniversary edition of the International Industrial Fair (MSV) approaches, we are introducing a new graphic identity to accompany this and future editions. This new visual concept was developed in collaboration with a creative agency and aims to create a timeless and flexible design that will stand up to the arrival of new trends.

The panel discussion on the topic of mobility of the future, chaired by editor-in-chief of the Hospodářské noviny newspaper Jaroslav Mašek, featured, in addition to the most competent speaker, Transport Minister Martin Kupka, Traian Urban, Director of EIT Urban Mobility, Innovation Hub East, Martin Russ, CEO of AustriaTech, a representative from Finland Pertti Kortejärvi, CEO of Smart City Innovation Cluster, and Jaroslav Pelant, CEO of Škoda X.

Ministry of Industry and Trade is presenting two major projects at URBIS – the National Consultation Point and Contact Ukraine. The latter was presented on the programme stage with the participation of a number of distinguished guests from the domestic and international political scene.

The panel discussion was hosted by Petr Honzejk, commentator and deputy editor-in-chief of the Hospodářské noviny newspaper, who said after the discussion that the speakers were certainly not short of expertise and erudition, but also imagination. And who spoke in this part?

Zdeněk Žalud, professor and head of the Institute of Agrosystems and Bioclimatology at Mendel University in Brno, devoted the opening lecture of the whole session to the issue of climate change, which is undeniable.

"Three days of sharing experiences, inspiration and workshops are ahead of us, and of course it will depend mostly on you," said Jaroslav Mašek, editor-in-chief of the Hospodářské noviny daily, welcoming all the participants. At the same time, he introduced the distinguished guests, who were Jan Kubata, CEO of BVV Trade Fairs Brno, Markéta Vaňková, Mayor of Brno and Jan Grolich, Governor of the South Moravian Region.

Living Labs bring a range of benefits to urban development, innovation and business activities. One of the main benefits is the promotion of innovation, as they provide a platform for testing and validating new ideas and technologies in a real-world environment. This enables faster adoption of new technologies. Another significant benefit is economic growth. Living Labs accelerate the development and dissemination of innovations, speeding up their market introduction. Thanks to feedback and analysis of market potential, innovations can also penetrate the international environment.

The trade fair area, with high visitor numbers and international reach, offers an ideal platform for showcasing and testing innovative products and services developed in a living lab. Companies and startups have a unique opportunity to gain valuable feedback from potential customers and investors in a real-life environment. This enables efficient and practical validation of new ideas and technologies.

The complex offers diverse and extensive facilities for various purposes. There are 12 exhibition halls and pavilions ranging in size from 400 to 15,000 m², more than 20 administrative buildings and over 80 infrastructure buildings. The infrastructure includes more than 10 kilometres of paved roads with various types of surfaces, 3.5 kilometres of collectors for utility lines and more than 500 lighting columns. There are also traffic signs, cameras and urban furniture.
