BRNO PATCHWORK MEETING

Each year, the Brno Patchwork Meeting attracts visitors from around the globe. This year, however, the event will welcome a truly special group – a delegation of Australian quilters traveling to the exhibition as part of an exclusive tour. For these passionate textile enthusiasts, the Brno Patchwork Meeting is one of the highlights of their European journey, blending history, architecture, and, of course, quilting.

We specialize in high-quality natural fabrics: raw, white, dyed, and printed. Our wide range includes plain weave, satin, twill, panama, and more.

We offer high-quality fabrics from both Czech and international manufacturers – cottons, blends, stroller fabrics, knits, sweatshirt fabrics, metal haberdashery for making handbags and pouches, and zipper tape by the meter.

Here, various techniques come together — printing, screen printing, felting with sheep wool, wax batik, patchwork, and quilting.

From April 25 to 27, 2025, Brno will once again become the European centre of artistic textile creation. The 17th edition of the international exhibition will take place in the historic Hall A1 of the Brno Exhibition Center, featuring nearly 30 galleries of individual artists and artistic groups. The exhibited works will captivate visitors with a variety of techniques – from classic patchwork to modern wall hangings and original at quilts.

I’m a designer of original fashion and home accessories with over 17 years of experience. Under my brand Puntík, I create products that combine creativity, functionality, and sustainability. I focus on using unconventional materials such as washable paper, which I transform into unique handbags, cases, wallets, and backpacks.

Our mission is to promote and market these unique fabrics, known for their whimsical characters and charming romantic designs that have won the hearts of patchwork and quilting enthusiasts around the world.

Růžena Bílková was born in Čkyně, in the Prachatice region of the Czech Republic. She spent her entire life there with her family, working as an office clerk and laborer. It wasn’t until retirement that she finally had enough time to fully devote herself to her passions – art, handicrafts, and collecting. Her fascination with old objects led her to the technique of collage, which incorporates even seemingly useless materials. Over time – and quite by chance – her interest shifted from old postcards and dried plants to working with buttons.

We are a group of textile artists from around the world who express their art through individual approaches to textiles. As a collective of artists, we vary in both our experience and in the nature of expression in our art - from surface design and mixed media to stitching both hand and machine.

The symbolic flagship—and freight ship—of my work are rag rugs made from worn-out textiles. The patterns are partly inspired by open-air museum classics and partly by the diversity of nature. Of course, I also weave custom replicas of damaged pieces. My motto, "Don't throw your old T-shirt in the trash—throw it on the floor instead," has followed me since my very first weaving attempts.
