BRNO PATCHWORK MEETING

Step into a tapestry of artistry and tradition with the exclusive  Collection "Best of" of the Carrefour - European Quilt Show, a breathtaking selection of 25 quilts spanning over six decades of creative excellence, from 1960 to 2023. Each piece tells a unique story, reflecting the diverse voices and visions of talented artists from four continents.

I specialize in hand-dyeing natural fibers such as merino, linen, cotton, and silk. I dye them with love and respect for nature, using eco-friendly dyes that are not only gentle on the environment but also on the fibers themselves, preserving their natural softness and beauty.

My name is Bára Bartošová, and I have been working with textiles for over 10 years. Recently, I have been focusing my creative work primarily on silk, textile collages, and art quilts.

Formation of the Magic Carpet Artists was the brainchild of Internationally renowned textile artist and teacher, Gillian Travis. As Pandemic lockdowns became more restrictive and face-to-face contact with other creatives became impossible, Gillian reached out to a number of like-minded textile artists in Australia, Germany, Israel and the United Kingdom.

Since 2001, she has been dedicated to quilting, with a strong focus on hand sewing and hand quilting. These meticulously crafted handmade quilts will be on display at Brno Patchwork Meeting 2025.

I have been passionately dedicated to patchwork for over 25 years. From the very first edition, I have been part of Brno Patchwork Meeting. In 2019, I had the honor of receiving the title "Star of Czech Patchwork." I exhibit my quilts all over Europe and have also won several prestigious awards.

Participate in the project of the Bohemia Patchwork Club Prague and donate a patchwork pillowcase made by you to those in need. As every year, we want to support a good cause during the Brno Patchwork Meeting exhibition.

I’m Ada Honders from the Netherlands. I have been organizing the OEQC (Open European Quilt Championship) for 20 years. I’m a salesperson in fabrics for more than 25 years. I’m now coordinator for Quiltworx from Montana and making stunning quilts for exhibitions.

As long as I can remember I tried out various crafty and artistic techniques. However, when I picked a profession, my love of languages prevailed. When I studied English literature in the USA, I discovered quiltmaking. I was immediately hooked, but it took a long time until I had the time to start a quilt of my own.

I am an artist who paints abstractions, but instead of a brush, I use fabric. I first worked as a ceramicist and discovered quilting a few years ago.
