URBIS The Smart Cities Meetup starts tomorrow at the Brno Exhibition Centre and will run until 12 June. The largest event of its kind in the Czech Republic will combine a trade fair with a conference and will focus on smart solutions for city and municipal management. Representatives of local governments, experts and technology suppliers will share experiences and address topics such as energy self-sufficiency, climate change, smart mobility, data, AI and citizen engagement. URBIS will also offer practical demonstrations, inspiration and funding opportunities.

Representatives of cities, municipalities and city companies will gather at URBIS The Smart Cities Meetup 2025, which will take place on 10-12 June 2025 at the Brno Exhibition Centre. This unique event will combine a trade fair with a conference and focus on smart and practical solutions for modern city and municipal governance. URBIS is the largest event of its kind in the Czech Republic and is the place where local government leaders, experts, innovators and technology suppliers come together each year to find answers to the current challenges facing municipalities of all sizes.

The EIT Community is a joint platform of nine Knowledge and Innovation Communities (KICs) under the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT), supporting innovation across Europe. Three key industrial cooperation agreements were signed today at IDET between Czech companies and Lockheed Martin in the framework of the project to acquire 24 F-35A Lightning II aircraft for the Czech Army.

In his opening speech at IDET, PYROS and ISET, President Petr Pavel stressed the importance of closer cooperation within the EU and NATO. He described the security and defence of the country as a common task for all citizens, who must have the will to defend what matters.

Located beneath Špilberk Castle, AURA is a company founded in April 1989 by the Engelsmann family from Brno. Over the course of 35 years, it has grown from a former production cooperative into the largest Czech exporter of information systems for military logistics.

Delegations from more than 50 countries witnessed a spectacular opening ceremony. The traditional flypast of the Army Squadron and the parade of the Czech Army Honour Guard unit were also present. Speeches were delivered from the podium by dozens of distinguished speakers, including the President of the Czech Republic and three Ministers of Defence - the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Congo.
