Bohemia patchwork klub Praha - celebrates its 20th anniversary
April 16, 2026 / 9:31 AM
The Bohemia Patchwork Club Prague celebrates its 20th anniversary with three thematic collections that combine tradition with contemporary textile approaches. The exhibition presents dozens of original quilts and an international leporello project capturing personal stories, memories, and places close to the hearts of artists from across Europe.
SPRING Collection
This collection loosely follows last year’s joint Spring sampler. It features a total of 34 works in a unified format of 80 × 100 cm. Each quilt is unique—ranging from classic patchwork blocks to appliqué and embroidery, as well as contemporary textile techniques, painting, printing, batik, and tulle layering.

LINEN Collection
For centuries, linen has been one of the most important textile materials in our region. Today, however, it is increasingly becoming a symbol of quality and luxury.
In this project, the artists decided to build on this rich Central European tradition and pay tribute to it through small quilts measuring 35 × 70 cm. More than thirty works were created, showcasing a diverse range of patchwork techniques.
The brief was intentionally open— the only mandatory criteria were the specified dimensions and the exclusive use of linen as the material. An optional theme marking the “20th anniversary of the founding of BPKP” was incorporated into some of the works. Everything else was left to the artists’ creativity, ideas, and personal expression.

LEPORELLO Collection
On the occasion of the 20th anniversary, our club announced an international project at last year’s Brno Patchwork Meeting entitled:
A JOURNEY NOT ONLY AROUND THE WORLD
Leporello – Places I Love Most
Last year, examples of works by our members were presented to inspire and engage other patchwork and textile artists from different parts of the world.
The task was to create a textile leporello consisting of 12 images, each measuring 15 × 15 cm. The individual pages could depict favorite or significant places, tell a small story, or express thoughts, moments, feelings, memories, or encounters with people along the artists’ life journeys.
The project reminds us that we do not always need to travel far to find beauty—often it can be discovered in places close to our homes.

To our great delight, 35 artists from seven countries - the Czech Republic, Poland, Austria, Germany, France, Switzerland, and Sweden—participated in the project, enriching the current collection of 22 leporellos created by our members. Among the participants are both well-known names and young, inspiring creators, including a sixteen-year-old boy and a girl with a hearing impairment, each with a touching story.
The leporellos are original and exceptional, representing a wide range of textile and artistic techniques, and above all, they carry the personal stories of their creators.
