Functional and Efficient Water Management Infrastructure Is the Foundation of a High Quality of Life and Environmental Protection

Investments in the water management sector in the Czech Republic continue to grow. According to the latest Blue Report on the State of Water Management, financial support provided by ministries reached CZK 12.8 billion in 2025, representing a year-on-year increase of CZK 1 billion.
This confirms the importance of stable investments in water supply systems, sewerage networks, wastewater treatment plants, and measures aimed at water retention in the landscape and increasing resilience to the impacts of climate change. As stated by Minister of Agriculture Martin Šebestyán, a functional and efficient water management infrastructure is one of the fundamental prerequisites for ensuring a high quality of life for residents while protecting the environment.
Positive developments are also reflected in operational data. In 2025, more than 95% of the Czech Republic’s population was connected to the public water supply network, while over 90% had access to sewerage services. At the same time, the length of both water supply and sewerage networks continued to expand, and average per capita drinking water consumption increased slightly. The growing need for investment in water management infrastructure, its modernization, and the assurance of its long-term sustainability remain among the key priorities of the entire sector.
