Exhibition Marking the 60th Anniversary of the River Basin State Enterprises Comes to Žatec

The Ohře River Basin Authority (Povodí Ohře), in cooperation with the City of Žatec, has prepared an exhibition commemorating the 60th anniversary of the establishment of the Czech Republic’s river basin state enterprises. The exhibition will be officially opened on October 20 in the atrium of the Žatec Town Hall and will offer visitors an insight into the work of water management professionals, major water infrastructure projects, and initiatives focused on the protection and restoration of watercourses.
The exhibition consists of twelve thematic panels presenting key projects and activities of the Ohře River Basin Authority. Visitors will learn about the recently completed reconstruction of the Jezeří water management structure, the planned construction of the Kryry reservoir, the importance of mountain water transfer systems in the Ore Mountains, and the ongoing restoration of the Bílina River.
The exhibition will also cover topics shared by all river basin state enterprises in the Czech Republic, including major reservoirs, hydrological extremes, watercourse monitoring, and the work of water management laboratories.
“On the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the establishment of the river basin state enterprises, we want to introduce the public to our daily work and the strategic infrastructure projects that shape the landscape around us. Water management is a modern field that addresses both hydrological extremes and landscape adaptation to climate change,” said Petr Sloup, Director of the Terezín Plant of the Ohře River Basin Authority.
The official opening of the exhibition will take place on Tuesday, October 20, at 4:00 p.m. in the atrium of the Žatec Municipal Office on Svobody Square. The exhibition will be open to the public during office hours until the end of 2026.
The exhibition offers a unique opportunity to explore the world of water management and learn about projects that influence water supply, flood protection, and landscape stewardship in northwestern Bohemia.
