The URBIS project and BVV Living Lab will be showcased this November at the prestigious Smart City Expo World Congress 2025 in Barcelona. They will be part of the Czech national exhibition, coordinated by the Ministry of Regional Development of the Czech Republic. Alongside representatives of the cities of Prague, Brno, Plzeň, and Říčany, the Czech delegation will include ministries, institutions, universities, startups, and companies – more than 40 exhibitors in total, presenting Czech innovations for smart cities.

URBIS 2026 – A Central European Platform for Smart City Innovations

At this year’s Smart City Expo, the Brno Trade Fairs team will introduce the concept of URBIS 2026, an ambitious project aiming to become the Central European platform for Smart City innovations – a place where public administration, business, academia, and the innovation ecosystem come together.

As part of the presentation, a memorandum of cooperation between Brno Trade Fairs and Fira Barcelona will be signed, paving the way for joint development of European platforms dedicated to smart city solutions.

BVV Living Lab – A Living Laboratory for Innovation

Another key part of the presentation will be the BVV Living Lab project – a unique living laboratory located directly within the Brno Exhibition Centre. It serves as a space for testing, validating, and showcasing innovative Smart City solutions under real-world conditions.

International Collaboration and New Impulses

Participation in Smart City Expo represents an important opportunity for Brno Trade Fairs to establish new partnerships with European and global stakeholders, share Czech know-how, and gain inspiration for new Smart City development projects. The goal is to strengthen the international profile of URBIS 2026, enhance Brno’s reputation as a hub of Smart City innovation, and open the door to pilot projects that can be tested within the BVV Living Lab.
