Mobile Battery: A Czech Innovation That Charges Electric Cars Faster and Cheaper – for 9.90 CZK

Mobilní baterka (Mobile Battery) is a new Czech project that changes the way drivers charge their electric cars. The idea of project founder Miroslav Beneš came from a simple observation — if you can charge a phone quickly using a powerbank, why couldn’t you charge an electric car the same way? Thanks to a smart combination of a charger and a battery storage unit, cars can now be charged faster, more efficiently, and at a fair, fixed price.
A Czech Idea Born from a Driver’s Frustration
Miroslav Beneš says with a smile that he “doesn’t understand electricity,” but he was the first to notice something that manufacturers in China had overlooked: “They made batteries and they made chargers — and it never occurred to them to put the two together. As they say, they couldn’t see the forest for the trees.”
This simple yet brilliant idea even impressed Beneš’s Chinese partners, who were enthusiastic once they realized the concept truly works. The idea stems from the everyday experience of a driver: with petrol, the price is always clear — but with chargers, tariffs are often confusing. Beneš wanted simplicity: arrive, tap to pay, charge, and leave. No loyalty cards, no pricing chaos.
A Giant Powerbank for Electric Cars
One of the company representatives, Zdeněk Pavelka, describes the whole station as a “giant powerbank” that allows faster charging thanks to the battery‑to‑battery system. “When you charge your phone through a powerbank, it goes faster. That’s where the idea came from — why not charge an EV the same way?”
The technology allows:
- charging a single car at 120–200 kW,
- charging two cars at 60 kW each,
- charging a car (e.g., a Tesla) from 20% to 80% in about 40 minutes.
A Fixed Price: 9.90 CZK/kWh for Everyone
A major advantage of the project is transparent, fair pricing. As Pavelka puts it: “The price is fixed — it’s always 9.90 crowns. It doesn’t matter where the energy comes from.” No hidden fees, no variable tariffs depending on the grid or charging location.
Mobile Battery at the Fair — and Soon on the Roads
The first prototype was presented only a few weeks ago in Prague, and now it is showcased in Brno at the fair. The project is young — the idea was born last spring — but it is already attracting strong public attention. Visitors can see two charging stations: one inside Pavilion F and another outdoors in front of the pavilion. There is also a branded Tesla Cybertruck, drawing crowds as an eye‑catching advertisement for the Mobile Battery project.
Why Mobile Battery Targets Both the Czech and European Markets
The goal is not to mass‑sell the stations — the Prague‑based company plans to build and operate its own charging network, including placements at petrol stations. It aims to expand from the Czech Republic to Slovakia and Poland. Landowners have a clear incentive: they receive a percentage of turnover as well as rental fees, making it worthwhile to maintain accessible and functional locations.
The Story of a Czech Enthusiast Who Convinced the World
Miroslav Beneš sums up the entire project proudly: “I am proud of it.” And he has good reason.
What began as frustration with charging his own electric car has grown into a project that may reshape the market — thanks to its simplicity, speed, and fair pricing.
