The Brno Exhibition Centre has once again become the hub of cutting edge electrical engineering and innovation. AMPER 2026 is being organized for the first time by Veletrhy Brno, and the ceremonial opening on the AMPER STAGE in Pavilion P carried the themes of energy transformation, digital challenges, and pride in Czech industrial tradition.
Jan Kubata, CEO of Veletrhy Brno, opened the fair by welcoming guests and highlighting this historic milestone — the first time Veletrhy Brno is organizing AMPER independently. In his speech, he emphasized the connection between traditional brands and modern research and innovation, symbolized by the afternoon unveiling of a new 5G hub directly in the pavilion. He thanked the Ministry of Industry and Trade for its longstanding support and expressed his wish for the fair to serve not only as a venue for business meetings but also as a platform for friendly professional encounters. “I believe that today we are starting something that will, in the coming years, represent a significant step forward for Czech industry and the Czech economy — and we would be proud to be part of that process,” Kubata concluded, thanking all attendees for being at the forefront of electrotechnical innovation.
First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Industry and Trade Karel Havlíček focused his remarks on energy and new technologies as the main pillars of the nation’s economic strategy. He shared fresh impressions from a trip to Austin, Texas, where he was inspired by the everyday use of autonomous taxis, and called for humility and openness to foreign best practices. He stressed that the country’s prosperity depends on innovation and the ability to compete with high added value. According to him, the state’s role is to build strong infrastructure for energy, transport, and artificial intelligence, while the actual innovations and their applications lie in the hands of entrepreneurs themselves. “I wish you an enjoyable fair. I was really looking forward to coming, and once again after a year I’m very glad to be here where things happen,” Havlíček said in closing.
“I would like to congratulate the organizers on taking on the task of building AMPER as a new future not only for the trade fair industry in the Czech Republic, but above all as a way to strengthen a field with a long national tradition,” began Zdeněk Zajíček, President of the Czech Chamber of Commerce. He recalled the legacy of Czech inventors such as Křižík and Kolben and expressed confidence that today’s talents and new discoveries have the potential to change life in the Czech Republic and worldwide. He emphasized the need to support technical education and create better conditions for companies to grow. He concluded by praising the impressive turnout at the opening ceremony, demonstrating strong public interest in the field.
Jiří Holoubek, President of the Electrotechnical Association of the Czech Republic, greeted participants on behalf of the association and highlighted the successful collaboration with Veletrhy Brno and Brno University of Technology on the expert accompanying program. He paid special attention to the emerging generation whose high quality secondary school projects presented at the fair reflect strong innovation and a natural alignment with digital transformation. He welcomed the fact that AMPER has now come “into the care and golden hands” of Veletrhy Brno, which can leverage its experience from organizing the International Engineering Fair. “I believe that over the next three days you will find plenty of inspiration for your future work — in innovation, in standard industrial processes, and above all in strengthening the competitiveness of our industrial environment,” Holoubek concluded.
