Professional Top Styl Designer Unveils Finalists
August 21, 2026 / 2:41 PM
As part of the STYL and KABO trade fairs, the Professional Top Styl Designer competition provides a platform for prominent personalities of the Czech fashion scene. Six professional designers have advanced to the final round, each presenting a collection of six outfits. The competition rules also emphasize the use of Czech textiles: three garments in each collection must be made from materials supplied by the traditional Czech textile company Veba, which is celebrating its 170th anniversary this year, with one of the garments specifically created from African brocade.
Anonymous Fashion Show Showcases Outstanding Final Collections
On Friday morning, all six finalist collections were presented on the runway, competing in originality, creativity, material combinations, and precision craftsmanship. The collections were titled FOLK APRON, Communication, WEIGHT and FLIGHT, CONTRAST'S, STOP boring GRAY, and ECHO.
The show was held anonymously so that the jury could evaluate only the creative work itself, the execution of the garments, and the overall impression of each collection, rather than the names of their creators. The winner of the competition will be announced during Friday evening’s gala event and will receive a cash prize of CZK 100,000.
Expert Jury to Decide the Winner
The winner will be selected by a five-member jury composed of professionals bringing expertise from fashion, culture, textile design, marketing, and manufacturing.
The jury is chaired by Professor Josef Ťapťuch, a distinguished fashion designer, textile designer, and educator who has been associated with the STYL and KABO fairs since their inception. His long-standing contribution to fashion, textiles, and education provides the competition with professional credibility and a strong connection to the fair’s traditions.
The other jury members are:
- Kateřina Jarošová, representative of the City of Brno responsible for marketing and public relations, bringing the perspective of the city and public communication;
- Zuzana Osako, fashion designer and creator, contributing the perspective of a practicing designer;
- Martin Gruntorád, fashion stylist, evaluating the collections through the lens of styling and presentation;
- Jana Moťková from Veba, whose participation links the competition with the tradition of Czech textile manufacturing.
"For me, the role of a juror is entirely new, and I am delighted to be able to participate in selecting these beautiful garments, which were of course partly made from our materials. It is a great honor for me to sit on the jury alongside such prominent names from the artistic and fashion industries, and to have the opportunity to share this entire day with them," said Jana Moťková.
A Year Under the Motto “Beautifully Czech”
