The exceptionally successful opening day of the agricultural and forestry trade fair complex concluded with a gala evening at the Rotunda of the Brno Exhibition Center. Representatives of the government, local authorities, and industry associations agreed that the new trade fair concept is a success and holds great promise.
The evening’s program was opened by Petr Bořecký, a member of the Brno City Council, who emphasized that the event’s success is built on the solid foundation of a long-standing regional tradition, one that must, however, be continually developed. He highlighted, above all, the focus on sustainability, which is key to this year’s edition. “That is precisely why this event is taking place—to showcase modern trends while emphasizing renewable resources and an environmentally friendly approach. We have several days ahead of us filled with opportunities to explore the latest technologies through a professional program, conferences, and exhibitions,” said Bořecký, adding that the trade fair is the ideal place to draw inspiration and discover new business ideas.
Jan Kubata, CEO of Veletrhy Brno, presented the vision for the new AGRISHOW format, which seamlessly builds on the tradition of the TECHAGRO trade fair while offering a more modern and comprehensive view of the entire sector. “I greatly appreciate the participation of the most prominent companies and the cooperation with the Association of Agricultural Machinery Importers and the Association of Agricultural and Forestry Machinery. This year’s program is significantly more diverse; AgriAréna offers dynamic field demonstrations, the Smart Farm project showcases technologies of the future, and ample space is dedicated to presentations of regional foods, breweries, and wineries. And I am very pleased that, in cooperation with the Czech-Moravian Breeders’ Society, we were able to organize animal championships and shows,” stated Jan Kubata, while also expressing his enthusiasm for the great interest shown by visitors: “For your information, 32,000 visitors came to the Brno Exhibition Center today,” he announced to the applause of those present and thanked the entire team for their hard work in preparing the event.
Agriculture Minister Martin Šebestyán also praised the event’s new format, which has earned international respect for its high standards—a fact confirmed by the participation of prominent foreign delegations. The minister emphasized that such trade fairs are essential for building a stable market and sharing experiences that help Czech farmers move forward. “I am very pleased that this format of agricultural and forestry fairs has been created and that it is so successful. I had my Serbian colleague, the Minister of Agriculture, here today, and he was absolutely thrilled by the scope and format of the event,” said Martin Šebestyán, adding: “It is very good that these events are taking place, that we can exchange experiences here, discuss the latest findings, and share our working methods.” In conclusion, he reiterated his priorities at the helm of the ministry: “My goal as Minister of Agriculture is to contribute to creating a stable, predictable environment for our entrepreneurs and to work on the competitiveness of all sectors, whether it be livestock production, crop production, or forestry. I believe that all events of this type contribute to this.”
Marek Sovka, Deputy Governor of the South Moravian Region, presented his region as a leader in innovation that is not afraid to invest in the future, while at the same time deeply valuing the work of people in rural areas. He views the trade fair as a key platform for showcasing local quality to the general public. “Welcome to the South Moravian Region, a region of the future that excels in research, science, and innovation, but also a region that respects farmers and where agriculture and regional foods belong,” declared Sovka, inviting everyone to visit the regional exhibition featuring award-winning products in Pavilion G2.
The final speaker was Václav Hlaváček, Vice President of the Agrarian Chamber of the Czech Republic. He highlighted the hard work behind organizing such a grand exhibition and paid special tribute to the breeders, for whom participating in the National Livestock Exhibition is a huge sacrifice. “I would like to share with you the joy I felt when I encountered crowds of satisfied visitors at today’s agricultural and forestry fairs. We cannot achieve a better reward. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all those who contributed to organizing this wonderful, spectacular event,” concluded Hlaváček, calling for further joint efforts to develop Czech agriculture.
