Polish Patchwork Association - 10year anniversary of Stowarzyszenie Polskiego Patchworku

April 1, 2026  /  1:11 PM

At the beginning of 2015, several women from Warsaw and the surrounding area who sewed patchwork wanted to meet, talk, and showcase their work. We found a place and agreed to meet on the last Thursday of each month. Hania called it  "Patchworkowe Darcie Pierza" This marked the informal beginning of our Association.

On November 7, 2015, the founding meeting of the Polish Patchwork Association took place. Eighteen quilters participated. We elected our officers and adopted our statute.

April 28, 2016 - this was the first official meeting of members and supporters of the Polish Patchwork Association. The Association was already registered with the National Court Register, so we were operating legally. We learned how to sew circles and hoops, as we had previously announced a competition on this topic.

Our primary goals are:
  • to undertake and promote educational activities aimed at popularizing the art of patchwork in Poland,
  • to support artists involved in developing this form of handicraft,
  • to organize patchwork exhibitions,
  • to organize patchwork competitions and courses.

We want everyone interested in this form of handicraft, regardless of their skills and experience, to feel at home in our organization - remember, every artist was once an amateur.

What do you gain?

We also want membership in the Association to provide tangible benefits to its members, such as participation in exhibitions, competitions, and courses; priority registration for these events; discounts on entry fees; the ability to borrow books and patchwork magazines from the library (we are currently working on a catalog); and discounts on equipment, accessories, and materials purchased from the Association's partners.

We also hope that, thanks to the international contacts established by the Association, we will be able to present Polish patchwork to a wider audience.

We wish everyone happy stitching!

Next year’s exhibition in Brno will celebrate the Association’s tenth anniversary.
