AiniBijoux: A Jewellery Designer and Button Maker in One

My name is Martina Vančurová, and I am behind the brand AiniBijoux, under which I create textile buttons and jewellery made from them. I have been working with fine textile techniques and their application in jewellery and fashion accessories for more than 20 years. For the past seven years, I have specialized in jewellery made primarily from covered and thread-wrapped buttons.
I love traditional crafts and heritage techniques, which is why I strive to incorporate as much of the rich textile tradition of our country into my work as possible. A large part of my work focuses on jewellery made from fabric-covered buttons, and I am constantly exploring new ways to enrich my craft by combining different traditional techniques and collaborating with other makers. And it works! In recent years, I have established collaborations with several textile producers, so you can find truly unique jewellery made, for example, from Strážnice indigo print, Czech brocade from Hedva, Slovácko embroidery by Magdino vyšívání, or handwoven fabrics thanks to my cooperation with the weaver Pèlerine. Of course, classic cotton and decorative textiles also have their place in my work.

Since I create my jewellery from handmade buttons, I also offer these buttons separately. Whether you sew, upholster furniture, or as a jewellery maker are looking for interesting textile “cabochons,” I will gladly create custom buttons tailored to your needs. I can also design jewellery perfectly matching your garments, as it will be made from the same fabric.

In addition to fabric-covered buttons, I have fallen in love with the almost forgotten technique of handmade thread-wrapped buttons. I am gradually building a new website www.vyrobaknofliku.cz, designing, testing, and producing special tools and materials, and organizing workshops focused on this beautiful technique and other traditional textile crafts. I also strive to promote and showcase the beauty of indigo printing, not only through workshops for children and adults but also by preparing DIY kits for creating simple indigo-printed decorations.

What can you look forward to at my stand during BPM?
I will bring a wide selection of button jewellery – earrings, brooches, pendants, bracelets, rings, hair accessories – made from traditional and folk textiles as well as modern designs. You will also find jewellery made from classic buttons and handmade thread-wrapped buttons. There will be buttons available for your own creative projects, indigo-print DIY kits, as well as tools and materials for making thread-wrapped buttons. You will also be able to see a rich display of thread-wrapped buttons for inspiration. And last but not least, I offer collaboration and custom-made buttons and jewellery – feel free to get in touch.
