Fristads: 100 Years of quality and tradition in workwear
July 4, 2025 / 7:34 AM
Since its founding in 1925 by John Magnuson, Fristads has stood for durable, functional, and safe workwear that protects craftsmen and industrial professionals worldwide. At the MSV 2025 fair, the Swedish pioneer in workwear presents its latest developments, including an environmentally declared workwear concept, innovative circular services, and tailored workwear solutions for various trades.
100 Years of Fristads: A Century for Professionals
From rugged overalls for dockworkers in 1925 to cutting-edge workwear in 2025, Fristads has significantly shaped the workwear industry. As part of the Hultafors Group and headquartered in Salzburg, Fristads today serves six European markets and is a market leader in high-quality professional clothing. At the Brno Industry Fair, Fristads celebrates its 100th anniversary with a festive booth that brings the brand’s history and future to life. Visitors are warmly invited to join us at booth [Booth Number] to toast the milestone, discover exclusive anniversary T-shirts, and explore innovative products that underscore Fristads’ commitment to craftsmen and industrial professionals.
PLUS X AWARD 2025: Best Brand for Workwear
Fristads was awarded the prestigious PLUS X AWARD as the “Best Brand of the Year 2025” in the workwear category. The jury, consisting of 156 industry experts, particularly praised the company’s innovation and sustainable product strategies. “Fristads impressively demonstrates that sustainable innovation and quality can go hand in hand,” emphasized jury chairman Dirk Hagen Zimmermann. Highlights such as the durable FAS fabric and the transparent measurement of environmental impact through the EPD standard (Environmental Product Declaration) position Fristads as a trailblazer in the industry.
New Environmentally Declared Concept: Sustainability Meets Functionality
At the Brno Industry Fair, Fristads introduces a new environmentally declared workwear concept designed specifically for the European market. The “Forsbo” collection combines sustainability with an attractive price point, targeting industry and craftsmanship. Made from recycled and bio-based materials, it minimizes environmental impact without compromising comfort or durability. The collection is part of the Fristads Green range, setting new standards with EPD-certified products like water- and windproof functional jackets made from recycled polyester. Thanks to the e-dye® dyeing technology, water consumption is reduced by 75% compared to conventional methods.
The Fristads Sustainability Report 2024 highlights the company’s commitment to a circular economy. A key milestone is the introduction of the “Sustainability as a Service” concept, encompassing the pillars of Repair, Reuse, and Recycle. Developed in collaboration with major customers and retailers, this offering enables longer use of workwear and minimizes waste. Fristads repairs garments locally, promotes reuse, and recycles used textiles to create new clothing. By the end of 2024, 31% of catalog models were made from recycled, bio-based, or organic materials – up from just 1% in 2020. Additionally, Fristads reduced CO2 emissions per product sold by 17% and per net sales by 30% compared to 2022.
