The new Pandur 8x8 Evo was christened with champagne by the Czech Minister of Defence

May 28, 2025  /  3:02 PM

The new Czech Pandur 8x8 EVO vehicle, presented by Tatra Defence Vehicle, a CSG Group company, had its world premiere at IDET. It is not just a vehicle, but an entire modular platform with its own ecosystem, in the development and production of which the Czech Republic participates in more than two thirds. The symbolic christening was performed by the Czech Defence Minister Jana Černochová, who bravely hit the world's newest vehicle with a stream of champagne in front of a crowd of journalists.

Czech products should be supported first and foremost by the Czech army

"I am very happy that the Czech Republic, through the companies represented by this concern, has once again made history. Because if we were exceptional in anything in Europe during the First Republic, it was in the defence industry. And I really appreciate the fact that there are a number of companies that are trying to develop and build on what our ancestors did," said Defence Minister Jana Černochová, adding that supporting Czech industry is a priority within her department. "At the moment we are doing a feasibility study and we will see what the next steps will be".

Pandur Evo is not just a vehicle, but a modular platform

The project presented is a symbol of innovation and strength of the Czech defence industry, which under the leadership of CSG contributes to the security of the Czech Republic and our allies. "It is not just a vehicle, it is actually a modular platform that meets the requirements of both NATO armies and all the requirements of the Czech Republic. We believe that we will be able to offer this vehicle to other territories as well, because we did not develop it only for our Republic, but we hope for its export potential," said Tatra Defence Vehicle CEO, Tomáš Mohapl. "What I would like to mention is also the contribution of the Czech industry. The vehicle is manufactured in the Czech Republic and currently more than 2/3 of the production is in the hands of Czech suppliers. The weapon system will also be manufactured in the Czech Republic, so the level of localisation is very high, which will ensure our ability to keep the vehicle alive and provide logistical support. By developing it, we can also modernize it in the future," the CEO added.

Active and passive crew protection

Pandur Evo delivers high crew protection, both passive, which means high ballistics and virus protection, and active, which differentiates the vehicle from the previous generation. Vehicles face many threats on the battlefield where passive protection is insufficient. That is why the entire vehicle is an ecosystem, integrating all modern technologies and based on the knowledge that manufacturers have implemented thanks to the experience of the current battlefields.
