Three key industrial cooperation agreements were signed today at IDET between Czech companies and Lockheed Martin in the framework of the project to acquire 24 F-35A Lightning II aircraft for the Czech Army.
Aero Vodochody has committed to the development of a universal reconnaissance container made of composite materials that can also be used on F-35 aircraft.
The other two agreements signed today expand Czech participation in the F-35 project to include artificial intelligence and simulation technologies: the VZLU AEROSPACE, the national centre for aerospace research, will focus on the use of AI and machine learning in aircraft design and testing; and Vrgineers will build on its previous cooperation with Lockheed Martin and expand the supply of its high-end VR/MR headsets, fully integrated into simulation systems for pilot training.
"These projects represent a major advance in the technological development of the industry and the Czech Republic as a whole, which are essential to ensure defence capability," Radka Konderlová, senior director of the Ministry of Defence's Industrial Cooperation Section, said at the signing ceremony.
