November 5, 2026 / 2:05 PM
A fourth exhibition hall, nine regions in the Travel Zone, and guests with plenty of travel stories to share. The official opening ceremony delivered inspiration, memorable experiences, and a healthy dose of humour.
Motorhomes, caravans, and unforgettable travel experiences were at the heart of the official opening of Caravaning Brno. Representatives of the organizers, the city, and the event’s professional partner welcomed visitors and exhibitors, while the event ambassador and special guests helped set the tone for four days of travel inspiration.
The speakers included Jan Kubata, CEO of BVV Trade Fairs Brno; former Mayor of Brno Markéta Vaňková; Jakub Geisler from the Brno City Marketing and Tourism Office; Roman Váňa, Director of the Czech Camping and Caravanning Association; and Simona Křečková, Exhibition Director. They were followed by event ambassador Josef Vrtal, known as Fotr na tripu and Expert Pepa, along with guests Ondřej Sokol, Petr Švancara, Ivona Maléřová, and Eva Decastelo.
The Show Is Growing. So Is the Desire to Travel
In his opening speech, Jan Kubata highlighted the expansion of the exhibition to a fourth hall and the growth of the Travel Zone, which now features nine regions instead of the original two. He captured the spirit of the event with a simple invitation to travel: “And if you leave here feeling that it’s time to get into a motorhome or a caravan and head off on a journey, then we’re doing our job well.” He also thanked the event’s partners, ambassadors, and the team led by Simona Křečková.
Markéta Vaňková praised the positive atmosphere of the exhibition and wished visitors success in finding inspiration or even their dream vehicle. She also pointed out that travel does not necessarily require a caravan: “If someone doesn’t want a vehicle, they just need to walk over to Hall G1, if I remember correctly. You can even choose a tent there, and that’s great too, especially if it’s a bigger one.”
Jakub Geisler invited visitors to explore not only the exhibition grounds but also the city itself. As the main partner of the Travel Zone, the City of Brno has its own stand in Pavilion B. “So I invite you to visit our stand, I invite you to discover the city of Brno, and I hope you enjoy this exhibition.”
Representing the event’s professional partner, Roman Váňa emphasized the joy of the annual gathering: “We’re very happy to meet you here every year and to see the start of this caravanning celebration exactly the way we like it.”
Simona Křečková thanked exhibitors for their trust, energy, and dedication to their presentations. According to her, the expansion of the exhibition has created a more diverse and inspiring experience. She wished exhibitors successful business opportunities and visitors memorable experiences: “I truly believe that Caravaning is a genuine experience.”
Scotland from Behind, Greenland Ahead, and Brno at Heart
The second part of the opening focused on personal travel stories and humour. Josef Vrtal reminded the audience that Caravaning Brno is much more than a vehicle exhibition. According to him, the talks and accompanying programme help travellers better understand how to move around and interact respectfully in the countries they visit.
“I always say that travel is about returning from every country and every city not only richer in experiences but, most importantly, wiser.”
A Memorable Scottish Holiday
Ondřej Sokol amused the audience with a story about a family holiday in Scotland, where he spent much of the journey stuck behind a caravan on narrow roads. “Actually, I’d like to inspect every caravan in this hall from behind so I can find the one responsible and settle the score for our holiday,” he joked. He also revealed that he and Aleš Háma are planning their own travel-themed project, with Greenland being mentioned as a possible destination still waiting to be fully explored.
Why Brno Matters
Petr Švancara reminisced about filming a promotional video that provided plenty of laughs for everyone involved. He also expressed his enthusiasm for the event's location: “And above all, it’s in Brno. For me, it’s incredibly important that this is happening here and not in Prague.”
Investing in Experiences
Ivona Maléřová shared her own caravanning story. Together with her husband, she purchased a motorhome after visiting the Brno exhibition. “I have to say that although it’s a significant investment and certainly not one that pays for itself financially, it comes back in the form of the most wonderful experiences that this kind of travel creates.”
The Human Navigation System
Eva Decastelo described a two-week caravan trip across the Czech Republic with a friend and her family. During the journey, she discovered her own special talent: “We found out that I can’t drive, and I shouldn’t tell anyone how to drive either, but I’m excellent at finding available parking spots with electricity and water connections.” She jokingly added that she could serve as a live navigation system on future trips.
Inspiration for the Next Adventure
The opening ceremony captured everything that makes travel special: fresh ideas, shared experiences, and stories that bring people together through laughter. Whether visitors are searching for a new motorhome, a tent, travel tips, or inspiration from experienced travellers, Caravaning Brno provides plenty of reasons to start planning the next adventure.
