January 21, 2026 / 10:09 AM
The Otava production cooperative is one of the stable Czech manufacturing companies with a long tradition and strong social impact. It focuses on electrical engineering production, assembly, and cooperative work for a wide range of industrial sectors, while creating long-term job opportunities for people with disabilities. Once again this year, Otava's products will be on display at the AMPER trade fair.
More than seven decades of Czech manufacturing
The roots of the Otava manufacturing cooperative date back to 1952, when it was founded as a small brush-making cooperative. Over time, however, it has transformed into a modern manufacturing company with extensive facilities, which today include more than 11,000 m² of production and storage space. Its long history, continuity of production, and stable facilities create a solid foundation for further development and the ability to respond to changing market needs. Otava is also a member of the Union of Czech and Moravian Production Cooperatives (SČMVD) and the Association of Employers of People with Disabilities.
A wide range of electrical engineering production
The cooperative's main area of activity is the production of cable harnesses, coils, electrical components, Bowden cables, and the implementation of cooperative work. Otava's products are used in the electrical engineering industry, automotive industry, mechanical engineering, medical technology, and specialized technical and research projects.
The Otava production cooperative is known not only for its long tradition, but also for its strong production capacities and the top quality of its products.
The Otava production cooperative is known not only for its long tradition, but also for its strong production capacities and the top quality of its products. Every year, it winds over 700,000 coils used not only in industry, but also in scientific and technical projects. It also supplies cable harnesses and electrical installations to prestigious companies. It also manufactures Bowden cables and control cables for the automotive industry and hospital beds, which must meet high safety and durability requirements. Otava is characterized by a very low defect rate (PPM) and a minimum number of complaints, which underlines its emphasis on quality and reliability.
Production with a human dimension
A specific feature of the Otava production cooperative is its strong social dimension. More than 60% of its employees are people with disabilities, for whom the cooperative systematically creates modified working conditions tailored to their individual needs. This includes not only physical modifications to the workplace, but also flexible working arrangements, professional support, and mentoring. The aim is not only to provide employment, but also to develop the skills and support the independence of each employee. As a result, Otava has become a place where production and a human approach go hand in hand – employees feel valued and motivated, which is reflected in the quality and reliability of the products.
