The Next Evolution in Clamping. Wireless sensing without batteries, wiring or external power at the clamp

At MSV 2026, KOSMEK will present its Motion-Powered Wireless Sensing Technology in a live demonstration. Visitors will see how swing clamps and link clamps transmit unclamp confirmation by radio signal without batteries, wiring, an external power supply or sensing air at the clamp.
Reliable confirmation for automated production
In automated machining, the machine control system must reliably know whether a clamp has completed its movement before the next operation begins. Unclamp confirmation is particularly important when loading or unloading workpieces, changing pallets or initiating another automated sequence.
Conventional sensing solutions may require electrical wiring, sensing air lines, additional ports or deep-drilled passages within the fixture. This can increase design complexity, especially on compact fixtures, rotary tables and multi-station systems.
KOSMEK Motion-Powered Wireless Sensing Technology uses the movement of the clamp itself to generate the energy required to transmit the unclamp signal. Once the unclamp position is reached, the signal is transmitted to the Wireless Clamping State Monitor and can be transferred to the machine control system or PLC.
Cleaner and less complex fixture design
The system provides a response time of approximately 0.1 seconds and allows up to eight signals to be monitored. Protection equivalent to IPX7 also supports use in wet machining environments.
Removing sensing air lines and electrical wiring from the clamp can reduce the number of fixture ports, passages and external components. The technology also eliminates the air consumption normally required for pneumatic action confirmation. This enables cleaner fixture layouts with reduced installation and maintenance requirements.
Wireless Sensing is available for double-acting hydraulic, single-acting hydraulic and High-Power Pneumatic KOSMEK clamps.
Complementary wireless pressure detection
The KOSMEK Wireless Pressure Switch extends the system with pressure-based monitoring. While the Wireless Sensing clamps confirm that the unclamp movement has been completed, the Wireless Pressure Switch detects an increase in hydraulic pressure. Depending on the fixture and control concept, the two technologies can be used individually or together.
