MSV 2026 Gold Medals Presented in a New Format for the First Time: Awards for Industrial Innovation, an Outstanding University Project, and Technology Trade Fairs

October 7, 2026  /  11:54 AM

The jubilee 60th edition of the prestigious MSV Gold Medal Competition recognized the best innovative exhibits of this year's fair. The winners in three categories were selected by an expert jury chaired by Jiří Hlinka, Dean of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at Brno University of Technology (BUT).

The competition is intended for commercial products, technologies, and services with real market applications that achieve or even surpass world-class standards. Its aim is to highlight creative achievements that successfully transform research and development into competitive innovations.

This year, the MSV Gold Medal competition was modernized to give submitted exhibits even greater opportunities to stand out. The new concept attracted strong interest from exhibitors, who entered a total of 30 exhibits. Following a two-round evaluation process, 16 exhibits advanced to the finals across three categories. According to the jury members, the quality of this year's finalists was exceptionally high, making the selection of a single winner in each category particularly challenging.

The MSV Gold Medal for Industrial Innovation was awarded to VOPSS Řepeč s.r.o. for its modular training machine VOSA 450. The jury praised the innovative modular design of the CNC machine, which combines practical training with productive deployment in commercial operations. Unlike conventional educational machines commonly used in schools, the VOSA 450 enables training throughout the entire machine life cycle, from assembly and commissioning to machining, diagnostics, disassembly, and reconfiguration.

A newly introduced category was dedicated to exhibits from the specialized trade fairs PLASTEX, WELDING, PROFINTECH, and FOND-EX. The 2026 Technology Trade Fairs Gold Medal was awarded to the Finnish company Pemamek Oy, which showcased its PEMA Scan solution in Hall V. This innovative software is designed for adaptive laser scanning of weld gaps during robotic multi-pass welding. It automatically adapts the weld to the actual joint geometry, significantly improving both productivity and welding quality.

The third Gold Medal of this year's event was awarded for an Outstanding University Project. The winner was BeamShape ElectronForge, a new-generation metal 3D printer utilizing electron beam melting technology. The manufacturer is the Czech company BeamShape, s.r.o., while the exhibitor was Brno University of Technology (BUT). In this case, the jury highlighted the successful integration of university research with industrial innovation in the development of a next-generation EBM metal 3D printer. The system features a proprietary electron source and enables highly precise printing with fine details while processing demanding materials.
