Project HEDVA ČESKÝ BROKÁT: Silk Garden for the 17th Brno Patchwork Meeting on April 25 – 27 2025

April 5, 2024  /  10:39 AM

We are happy to invite you to join our new international project brought to you by HEDVA ČESKÝ BROKÁT and BVV Brno, the BPM organizer. Our regular visitors were used for many years to find a special collection made by authors from the whole Czech Republic based on a selection of fabrics brought to us from various exotic destinations. In 2023 we introduced a new project based on African brocades by Veba Broumov.

For 2025 we invite you to participate in a new textile project sponsored by the Czech largest brocade producer Hedva with a large range of brocades used for national costumes, theatre and festive gowns, tapestry, ties, upholstering with many other interior and decorative possibilities. We do believe that we offer an unique project by suggesting to use these luxury and extraordinary fabrics in quilting. The brocades are mostly made of viscose silk with some stretch lurex additions.

The production of Hedva Czech Brocade will be presented for the first time at the upcoming 16th BPM on April 19 - 21 2024.

Theme of Collection: SILK GARDEN. Any textile technique of individual choice.

Each participating author will pick up at the Hedva Czech Brocade stand no. 40 4 pieces of Czech luxury brocade fabric sized approx. 40x 30 cm, all can be used from both sides. Any further fabrics can be added according to the intended pattern or design. The author will submit an application form (available at the Hedva stand no. 40 or you can download it HERE) with no obligatory exhibition fee – the collection is sponsored by BPM. The whole collection is intended as a travelling one, in charge of the schedule will be BPM in close cooperation with the Hedva company.

After its premiere at the 17th BPM in 2025 the collection will be exhibited in Hedva´s show room and may be borrowed by any participating author for another venue, the range and terms must be consulted with the administrator. Therefore, the quilts will not be returned to the authors after the BPM, but will stay at the disposal of BVV Brno/Hedva for next 3 years minimum.
