Pop-up book – Places I love the most
A project for patchwork artists from around the world, prepared to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the founding of the Bohemia Patchwork Club Prague.
Project Concept
The project is focused on creating a leporelo. Each page may depict significant places, tell a simple story, express various ideas, moments, feelings, memories, or people we have met along the way. "The Journey Not Only Around the World" emphasizes that you don’t have to travel beyond your country’s borders to discover beaty – it can be found close to home.
A pop-up-book is an accordion-style booklet made up of individual sheets with images on one side. It can be described as a book for viewing or a decorative strip to hang on a wall. The pages are connected, easily folded, and turned.
Materials and Techniques
The primary focus should be on textile materials, such as fabrics, threads, lace, buttons. It may also be supported by small suitable artefacts from travels, prints or photographs on paper.
Recommended techniques include:
- Hand or machine sewing
- Quilting
- Embroidery
- Gluing
- Appliqué
- Fabric painting
- Collages
- Or a combination of these methods

For those interested, our member Mirka Kalinová will host a workshop on Friday, April 25, 2025, from 3 to 5 PM, where participants will learn the simple way how to create the pop-up book .
Exhibition - The Pop-up book – Journeys collection will be exhibited at the BPM in 2026. We are looking forward to receiving contributions from authors, hopefully from all over the world!
