International Fair of Footwear and Leatherware

Shoe care is important…

… and it is also easier than ever. All you have to do is to choose from a broad range of products and invest a little bit of your time to care after your shoes. This is an investment that really pays off as it substantially extends the life of your favourite pair of shoes and helps maintain their aesthetic value. News and innovations in the care of shoes and leather garments and accessories were presented at a trade fair seminar by the suppliers of the brands Woly, Collonil, and Solitaire.

The market is currently lead especially by products with universal specification, which are applied on footwear of various materials, and which also have a combined effect such as care and impregnation in one. On the other hand the range broadens also in the sphere of products with special designation – e.g. for the dilation of shoes or for the care of fashionable leathers with pearl or metallic effects. “There is also a broad range of coloured creams on offer, with many different colours and tones available. Here they are used much less often than in foreign countries. Coloured creams can restore scratched or cracked shoes to make them look like almost like new,” explains Milan Borský from the corporation Proteching B that supplies products of the Woly brand. He says that coloured creams are used during the process of production for retouching colour variations caused by the natural imperfections of the hide. Handbags can be restored just like shoes, all it takes is to choose a special cream with a low smear-off factor and high content of the pigment.

A new method of impregnation was presented by Vladimír Jindřich of Gemini plus Corporation, which represents Collonil – a brand with more than hundred years of tradition – on the Czech market. It is a nanotechnology that acts only on the surface but is more effective than the classical method. Footwear impregnated by a cream containing nano particles is protected from water as well as from oil and grease.

The current trends include the emphasis on environment-friendly properties. Collonil is presenting a new Organics range that is based on natural materials – bamboo extracts and olive oil. They have also replaced the old gas-propelled sprays by more environment-friendly ones with mechanic atomisers. The same direction is also headed into by the Solitaire brand, which promotes creams containing beeswax and fruit waxes containing no chemical solvents.
