An exhibition of new technologies for machining and forming

Production of machine tools and forming machines is thriving; in 2015, the European production in this sector grew by 5% and the CECIMO association estimates that this year it will keep the same pace. Priorities for further development of the sector are the digitization of manufacturing and upgrade of obsolete machine stock. More on the situation in the field will be shown by the 10th International Fair IMT, which will be launched in a couple of weeks and exhibitors already reveal the exhibits they are bringing to Brno this year.

Domestic manufacturers big style

Manufacturers of machine tools and forming machines from the Czech and Slovak Republics are present at the Brno Exhibition Centre every year. This year, member companies of the Association of Engineering Technology booked a total of 3,343 square meters of exhibition space and stands for their displays; visitors will find their stands mainly in the largest Hall P. For instance, TAJMAC-ZPS will exhibit four machines, of which three brand new: longitudinal CNC automatic lathe MANURHIN K'MX 916, gantry-type machining centre MCV 1210 and multi-spindle automatic lathe MORI-SAY TMZ518CNC with Cucchi BLT feeder. As many as four machines will be boasted at the stand of the company “TRENS SK” based in Trenčín, Slovakia. These will include an SBX 500 CNC turning centre, an MC 1040V CNC vertical machining centre, an SE 320 num universal CNC centre lathe and an SN 32 universal centre lathe.

The display of the company “Strojírna TYC” will show a machine named FVU 800 CNC – a  compact five-axis gantry-type centre designed with tilt rotary (trunnion) table and headstock in a powerful high performance version POWER (400 Nm). Also the company “AXA CNC Stroje” will present an interesting novelty. AXA VCC 50 is a powerful version of the VCC-series’ smallest machine with an SK50/BT50/HSK100A clamping taper, designated for heavy machining. The machine can be extended to a 4 to 5-axis version using NC trunnion tables of proprietary production.

Additional Czech manufacturers exhibit in Hall F. The company “Pilous – pásové pily” (band saws) will present a robust universal band saw of ARG 300 series in a new design. In order to achieve maximum cutting productivity, a possibility was added of setting optimum blade speed by means of a frequency converter in a range of 15-90 m/min. The manufacturer of metalworking tools “NAREX Ždánice” will introduce a new series of high-precision taps NX PRECISION TAPS.

Foreign innovations for faster and more accurate machining

Importers of foreign brands will not remain behind with their offer. The company IMTOS will bring to Brno innovative universal five-axis horizontal machining centre Grob G350 from the company GROB-WERKE. The advantage of these machines is namely the exceptional rigidity the bed. The upgraded version has increased performance and completely redesigned drive concept, which resulted in a significant reduction of working time, improved operational efficiency and quality.

The company Misan will present in the Czech premiere a compact five-axis vertical machining centre MU 4000V-L of the OKUMA brand. This novelty excels especially with its combination of accuracy and rigidity while maintaining a compact size and thanks to its cinematic concept it allows for simple and efficient process automation application in loading semi finished material and unloading finished products.

The exhibition stand of the company “SEMACO tools and software” will show visitors a high-performance NVDS milling cutter, whose advantage lies in an extreme increase in productivity when plunging under angles of up to 20° thanks to a new tool geometry. It will also feature a new generation of roughing VBD *8042 offering longer life of the finish, a smoother surface and thus less friction and heating. An innovation is also the powerful universal analyzer PartXplore as an ideal solution for visualization and analysis of 3D models without the necessity to use the original CAD software.

The company TRIMILL will show the first prototype of its TRIMILL VU 3021 machine.

Five-axis TRIMILL VU machines allow for complete machining of a part from five sides with only one clamping and stand out for their favourable ratio between the minimum machine size and the maximum size of a part to be worked.

Extended presentation of forming machines

Hall B, traditionally reserved for forming machines, is already full-up, so some companies have been placed elsewhere, and others are waiting to see if some space is released. The area occupied by exhibitors of forming technology increased in comparison with last year both overall and by industry leaders, who extended their displays. New businesses from countries such as Germany, Italy, Turkey and Poland are exhibiting, and some major companies are returning after a period in recent years when they did not exhibit at all or only as part of official participations.

The company Newtech, in the section of forming machines, will present products of the renowned Belgian company LVD. This year, it will present a new fibre cutting machine Phoenix FL for fast and cost-effective laser cutting of ferrous and non-ferrous materials of varying thickness. Another novelty of the series of small compact servo-electric press brakes Dyna-Press model 24/12 stands out with its higher performance and low power consumption. The company Newtech represents on the Czech and Slovak markets also the leading Japanese machine tool manufacturer TOYODA; this year, in this section of machine tools, it will present a highly productive FH400J horizontal machining centre with minimum space requirements and a FV1165 vertical machining centre.

Programming competition newly to take place in Hall Z

In order to improve the vocational training and as a contribution to addressing the shortage of qualified programmers of CNC machines on the labour market, the exhibition centre will host once again a competition for young programmers. The Association of Engineering Technology organizes this event for secondary technical and vocational schools. This year's "Learning Centre – a competition for young engineers in programming CNC machine tools" will newly be located in Hall Z and students will be allowed to choose from three control systems: HEIDENHAIN, SIEMENS or FANUC. Same as last year, the event will include a demonstration workplace of the company Festo and after six years also an exhibition of the Research Centre for Engineering Manufacturing Technology at Engineering Faculty of the Czech Technical University Prague.
