International Engineering Fair

Nearly half of the exhibitors come from abroad

The International Engineering Fair has long maintained a high share of foreign participants. This year, already 750 foreign companies registered, a full 47 percent of the total number of 1600 participants. Foreign companies come from 31 countries and the highest number - 280 exhibitors - again registered from Germany, which has traditionally been strongest in MSV representation. The participation of German companies has been strongly supported by some federal lands, namely Bavaria, Rheinland-Pfalz and a trio of states, Sachsen, Sachsen-Anhalt and Thüringen, who will open a common stand of Central Germany. Active participation is also planned by the Federal Ministry for Education and Research, who are preparing a joint exhibition of thirteen selected German companies and research and educational institutions in Hall B. Also the stand of the Czech-German Chamber of Commerce in Hall A1 will focus on the main topic of research and development.

The second foreign country with the most numerous representation this year is Slovakia with 82 companies and an official participation supported by the Ministry of Economy of the Slovak Republic. Third place belongs to Italy, which is among others represented by a collective stand of the Italian-Czech Chamber of Commerce and Industry and a total of 67 registered companies. The fourth country with the most numerous attendance is, quite unusually, China with approximately 60 companies arriving to exhibit. It is the largest Chinese participation in the last fifteen years, and among other things, for the first time there is a joint presentation of West-Chinese industrial enterprises from the Sichuan province. The Chinese participation is officially promoted by several organizations supporting foreign trade and the joint stands of Chinese companies will be found in Hall Z. On Tuesday 30 September, the " China - Czech Republic Conference " will take place at the exhibition centre, organized by the CzechTrade agency office in Chengdu, China.

Export of Thai industrial products is aimed not only to ASEAN countries but also to Europe, reaching more than $ 200 billion annually. Main export articles include subcontracted items for the automotive and electronics industries. A total of twenty Thai companies will be presented in Brno, most of them in Hall V at the joint stand, sponsored by the Federation of Thai industries. The possibility of cooperation will be the focus of a business forum entitled "Thai-Czech Partnership in Industry and Business" on Tuesday 30 September, organized by the business department of the Embassy of Thailand in Prague. Participants will also include the Thai ambassador to the Czech Republic and representatives of the Thai Ministry of Commerce and the Federation of Thai industries.
