International Engineering Fair

MSV 2020 with IMT, FOND-EX, WELDING, PROFINTECH and PLASTEX technology fairs

The upcoming MSV International Engineering Fair will show even more from the digitization of industry, and its main field will traditionally be machining and forming. The 62nd MSV expects 80,000 professionals to come to see what's new with more than 1,600 industrial technology suppliers.

The last 61st International Engineering Fair was seen by 81,000 visitors from 58 countries. This is how many people wanted to see the transformation of industry associated with the advent of digital technologies. "The same concept will continue at the next MSV, which will show digitization across all sectors and exhibition halls. The successful exposition Digital Factory 2.0 is also being prepared again," added MSV director Michalis Busios. In total, 435 exhibiting companies have presented themselves in the fields of digital factory, 3D printing, automation and robotics, and the organizers expect this number to grow even further.

The future of industrial technologies will be seen again from 5 to 9 October 2020 in Brno

The upcoming 62nd season of MSV will also focus on other hot topics. The topic of circular economy, or a system of reuse of materials that we keep in circulation for as long as possible, premiered at the last edition of the expo. This year, circular innovations in industrial companies will once again be presented. Thanks to cooperation with the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Czech Republic, the topic of start-ups will also be represented at the fair. These, in particular, are the drivers of innovation and interesting investment opportunities. Of course, there will also be the MSV Gold Medal competition for the best innovative exhibits and an extensive supporting programme will be part of the fair. For example, a popular project of organized and guided tours of the MSV Tour is in the pipeline. There will also be the B2B project Contact-Contract, which works on the principle of pre-arranged negotiations.

Top expo of machining and forming

Together with the 62nd MSV, additional specialized fairs will take place in Brno only every two years. The first is the IMT exhibition, which makes visible the dominant branch of machine tools and metal forming machines. Since its first edition in 1998, IMT has been the largest such specialized expo in Central and Eastern Europe. 452 exhibiting companies from 17 countries presented themselves at the MSV in the field of machining and forming. At the 12th IMT 2020 International Machine Tools Exhibition, the organizers are expecting even more of them and above all the range of exhibits will be expanded. In addition to foreign machines, we will certainly see top Czech products, because this industry has a long tradition in our country and currently we are the thirteenth largest producer of machine tools in the world.

In even years, four specialized technology expos are held concurrently with MSV. The 18th FOND-EX International Foundry Fair, the 25th WELDING International Welding Engineering Fair, the 8th PROFINTECH International Surface Technology Fair and the 7th PLASTEX International Plastics, Rubber and Composites Fair will address the trade visitors. These sectors are included in the MSV nomenclature every year, but thanks to these specialized expos they get more attention from exhibitors, trade visitors and media.

Looking back at the successful MSV 2019

The International Engineering Fair 2019 was attended by 1,662 exhibiting companies from 30 countries, with the share of foreign participants reaching 51.3%. The most numerous attendances were shown by companies from Germany, Slovakia, China, Italy, India and Austria. The exhibition was visited by 81,049 visitors from 58 countries and 16.1% of them came from abroad. Most foreign professionals came from Slovakia, Poland, Germany, Hungary, Austria, Italy and Russia. 262 journalists from ten countries were accredited at the fair.

Interesting results were brought by the traditional survey conducted by Ipsos agency among visitors and exhibitors of MSV 2019. The results just like last year confirm the high satisfaction of visitors and the time spent at the fair increased compared to last year. There was also satisfaction on the side of exhibitors. The core of visitors and exhibitors is formed of long-term participants of the event who, thanks to the high profile of the fair, like to come back repeatedly – and plan to return again next year. Jan Humhej, Associate Director at Ipsos agency, comments research as follows: “It is obvious that the organizers of the expo have been doing a good job in the long run, as the satisfaction with the fair is highly above standard for visitors and exhibitors alike, and MSV keeps holding its position and is perceived as the most important trade fair in the field, in a long-term and stable manner. The constant innovation of the expo also helps to achieve good results. For example, exposition Digital Factory 2.0 had a great acclaim from customers."
