International Engineering Fair

Bavarian-Czech Conference at MSV 2019

The latest figures confirm: the region Central and Eastern Europe continues to be one of the main engines of German foreign trade. Especially exports to the Czech Republic are developing rapidly, having increased by 6.1 percent to EUR 44.2 billion in 2018 compared to the previous year. The supporting pillar of German-Czech trade relations is, besides the automotive industry, mainly engineering. The most important event in this sector is the International Engineering Fair (MSV), which takes place from 7 to 11 October 2019 in Brno.

The volume of German-Czech trade reached a record figure of EUR 92 billion in 2018. The Czech Republic currently occupies the 10th position among the most important trade partners of Germany. "15 years after the EU expansion to the East, our eastern neighbours are deeply integrated into the value generation chains of German industry," summarizes the current development Wolfgang Büchele, chairman of the German Committee on East European Economic Relations (Ost-Ausschuss – Osteuropaverein der Deutschen Wirtschaft, OAOEV)).

MSV is the most important industrial fair in Central Europe and a central meeting point of the region's engineering companies. 1,600 exhibitors, most of them from abroad, and more than 80,000 visitors illustrate the international outreach of MSV. The key topic of the fair this year is Industry 4.0 and digital factory.

Germany is traditionally the most important partner of MSV. In 2018, more than 30 percent of all foreign participants arrived from Germany. Businesses from Bavaria and the region of Central Germany have the opportunity to participate in MSV as part of organised joint stands.

In addition, the Bavarian-Czech conference entitled “E#change for your digital future! will be held at MSV on 8 October 2019.

Two topics are at the centre of attention of high-quality speakers:

  • Changing requirements on the training of professionals 4.0 in engineering will be discussed in a variety of ways under the title "Digitally Naïve or Digitally Native – Are We Ready for the Future?"
  •  In the question of "Suppliers‘ CompetenCZe Tomorrow?", experts will suggest how digitisation changes international value chains.
