International Engineering Fair

Czech-German inspiration on Industry 4.0

Germany has been the largest foreign exhibitor at the International Engineering Fair. 270 German companies are represented in Brno within the four joint stands of the five federal states - Bavaria, Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt, Thuringia and Hessen. The Czech-German Chamber of Commerce (ČNOPK) also organized a conference entitled "Forum Industry 4.0" today. There was great interest in the lectures, 120 participants filled the entire congress hall at the Holiday Inn.

The Forum was attended by Czech and German experts from research and development, who came to present the latest trends, and above all by the representatives of the top management of technology companies such as Siemens, Bosch Rexroth, ŠKODA AUTO, Trumpf, Brose, Fraunhofer MOEZ, Fraunhofer IWU, T-Mobile SAP, Systementwicklung SYSTEMA GmbH, as well as the Confederation of Industry of the Czech Republic and the Czech Technical University. "Yesterday we heard from the Minister Mládek how the Czech Republic sees the topic of Industry 4.0. And we have to have an idea as well and look what Industry 4.0 means for each of us. Today I would like to look into intelligent manufacturing processes, which is only a small part of what we will call Industry 4.0 in the future," said Wolfgang Weissler from Siemens at the opening of his lecture, Additive Manufacturing, Flexible Production of Basic Components.

The one-day conference included two central themes - "Customer Management in the Digital Age" and "The use of big data - the Potential and Risks." Mentioned issues included flexibility in planning and implementing applications of Industry 4.0 in production and communication processes, so that firms could be competitive, new infrastructure for the Internet of things, the use and risks of large data, IT-based energy-efficient and resource-saving production, the human factor at the time of digitization or what the digitization of education and the workforce will bring. Following the "Industry 4.0 Forum", representatives of the Technical University of Chemnitz at the a ČNOPK joint stand in Hall A1 prepared an example of the so-called Demonstrator, which made the Industry 4.0 illustrative. For visitors could watch a demonstration of specific preparation and dissemination of information via a tablet and Bluetooth-based pico-cells and alerting staff via smart watches.

ČNOPK chose "Industry 4.0 - A Revolution In Progress" as their theme of the year. Why is this so? "When the rEvolution hangs in the air, it is high time to act - if we want to participate in shaping it. Industry 4.0, i.e. the fourth industrial revolution, brings a complete digital connection between all levels of creating added value - from product development to logistics. This means a radical change, and far-sighted planning of investments in large and small companies. Innovation, flexibility, productivity and time to market – all this will be redefined and the Czech Republic must be actively involved in this development. The aim is to maintain and increase competitiveness. Industry 4.0 is already gradually changing industrial production. There is a significant risk that we will respond too slowly and will waste valuable competitive advantage, because today it is decided where there will be production tomorrow. Economy and Politics in Europe or in the USA and China must take a step in the right direction already today. Industry 4.0 is a part of the so-called High-Tech Strategy of the German government. ČNOPK wants to provide initiatives that would contribute to the start of the so-called fourth industrial revolution in the Czech Republic, and in collaboration with partners from the economy, research and policy it wants to encourage its further development," said the ČNOPK officials.
