International Fair for Regional Tourism

The GO & REGIONTOUR trade fairs commence on Thursday, bringing a top-notch program for professionals as well as the whole family

January 15th, 2018

In the third quarter of 2017 alone, the number of guests in mass accommodation facilities grew by 5.9% year-on-year and their overnight stays by 4.2%. The trend of increasing traffic was confirmed in the main tourist season. This is according to data from the Czech Statistical Office (CZSO). The GO and REGIONTOUR trade fairs, which commence on Thursday, January 18 at the Brno Exhibition Center, seek to support domestic tourism in the Czech Republic.

The January fairs will bring almost all regions of the Czech Republic and Slovakia to Brno. The first day is reserved for professionals, for whom an attractive specialized program is prepared. The program will focus on marketing, modern technology, EET (Registration of sales), or, for example, classification of destination management. Friday, January 19 and the weekend are intended for general public as well.

"Thanks to the new concept, the fairs will introduce a comprehensive national tourism presentation. Regiontour is a major project to support domestic tourism as well as incoming tourism," explains Go and Regiontour Fair Director Miloň Mlčák. Indeed, representatives of Hungary, Austria, Croatia, Slovenia and Switzerland will also be present at the trade fairs. Compared to last year's trade fairs, the number of represented countries has increased from 19 to 26. Cuba and the Dominican Republic will be taking part in the fairs this year. These Caribbean countries have become popular exotic destinations for Czechs in recent years.

The new festival F-Hall, which has been newly added to the Go and Regiontour fairs, will provide a whole host of experiences for the entire family. "Visitors can look forward to meeting modern Nomads, who will also be bringing their special caravans. Those interested in water holidays will again enjoy the opportunity to look inside a yacht. The first mobile climbing wall in the Czech Republic and a central bar, where you can enjoy interesting traveler drinks, will also be erected in the pavilion," says Karolína Křenková, spokesperson of the Go and Regiontour trade fairs, highlighting the accompanying program for the public. There is also a special corner for young travelers and experiences for lovers of cycling, hiking or relaxation.

Extreme gastronomy, regional food, wine or degustation of luxury restaurants

The fairs are also associated with food and beverage tastings from different parts of the world. Milan Václavík will prepare, for example, crocodiles, fresh crickets, scorpions or tarantulas for visitors. There will be a presentation of regional specialties at the REGFOODFEST regional specialties festival and regional food festival. The top-class gastronomy will be provided at the trade fairs by renowned Brno restaurants, which will prepare a luxury degustation with regional wines

Travelers will come together at the GO CAMERA festival

Many big names from the world of traveling will meet up at the 21st annual Go Camera festival, organized by CK Livingstone, led by Rudolf Svaříček. "An exceptionally strong set of more than fifty performers will be presented live at the four-day marathon of lectures and screenings," reckons Svaříček. This year's central theme is East Africa, so the opening ceremony will be kicked off by KATEŘINA CHAUVEAU, who is behind the organization Bwindi Orphans. The organization provides support to a school in Uganda as well as child sponsorship, and visitors can contribute to the activities. And what else can you expect? You will take a stroll through the world with Láďa Zibura, you will climb up an eight-thousand-meter peak with Radek Jaroš or Josef Šimůnek, while Jiři Pavlica will present his African playing or you will fly with the artist David Černý, you will also learn about the new film of Václav Marhoul and see the photos of Jan Šibík or Zdeňek Thom. The lectures are complemented by exhibitions, concerts, screenings and discussions.
