He spoke with representatives of Czech engineering companies and defined three major problems of Czech industry at a meeting with journalists, agreeing with the present President of the Chamber of Commerce of the Czech Republic Vladimír Dlouhý.

We experienced a difficult period for the industry during the past twenty years, influenced by the botched privatization or unnecessary banning of the trade with the east. We did surprisingly well in the crisis period from 2009 to 2012. Now we are in a stage of a growing economy.

Minister Mládek at the Engineering Fair

"Industry is the backbone of the Czech economy and engineering is the backbone of the Czech industry." Even such brief statement of Minister of Industry and Trade Jan Mládek about the importance of the engineering industry hinted why he has been present at the International Engineering Fair in Brno since this morning. "I am pleased to see that there are a lot of products with high added value," he said at a briefing with reporters after the first half-day, which he spent among engineering companies.

Nearly half of the exhibitors come from abroad

The International Engineering Fair has long maintained a high share of foreign participants. This year, already 750 foreign companies registered, a full 47 percent of the total number of 1600 participants. Foreign companies come from 31 countries and the highest number - 280 exhibitors - again registered from Germany, which has traditionally been strongest in MSV representation.
