October 21, 2009 BVV Press Center - Utilization of biomass for energy purposes – bioenergy was the name of the seminar which was staged within the specialist accompanying program “Wood – an integral part of a sustainable development” at the WOOD-TEC Fair. Ass. Prof. Jaroslav Hrázský from Mendel Agricultural and Forestry University in Brno is convinced that this energy can be mostly used in family houses, schools, senior homes and similar institutes. He informed that the Czech Republic would not be able to fulfil the 10 % quota of the energy packet by 2010.
“Biomass can be pneumatically transported as far as the boiler of the user. It has been mostly used in Scandinavian countries, where it shares about 20 % in the total energy consumption. Also Germany and Austria have been aimed at heating family houses and schools by biomass , whereas in the Czech Republic this system of heating involves about six percent,” claimed Ass. Prof. Hrázský.
Firm Rojek woodworking machines has recently been dealing with the production of boilers for biomass. Executive Manager of the company Evžen Rojek says that the firm, thanks to this activity, is successful in covering the shortfall in sales of classical machines which are not sold as much as in the foregoing years due to the present crisis. They are boilers of a new generation which are a continuation of the wood mass crushers. With respect to the fact that this waste (sawn wood, shavings and cuts-off) are processed in joiner’s shops, the firm decided to supply also ecological boilers to these shops. As fuel pellets, but also coal, wood, fuel mix and biomass can be used. “In the Czech Republic more than 6000 pcs of KTP have been operating. A novelty is an automatic boiler up to 890 kW designed for the workshops of all industrial branches and joiner’s operations”, stated executive manager and member of the board of the company Evžen Rojek. At present this equipment has been subsidized by 95 000 CZK from the State Environmental Fund CZ.
Company Hettich which in particular deals with the production of furniture metal fittings is located in Hall F at the WOOD-TEC Fair. Firm’s portfolio includes e.g. suspensions, drawers, metal fittings for sliding and folding doors, lighting fittings and catches. They are targeted for producers of series furniture and furniture made to order, but also for joiners, supermarkets and for do-it yourselfers. The trend in the production of furniture is unambiguously aimed at comfort, which means that it must be functional and of a perfect design. It must be easily treated and made of quality materials. “In particular high quality has recently been typical for the Czech Republic. In the past mostly joiners were of the opinion that if they use cheap metal fittings for their furniture, it will be well sold. However, later they found that not a cheap product, but a quality brand makes a good deal,” added Secretary of Hettich International Horst Blom.
The WOOD-TEC Fair which will last by Friday, October 23, is attended by altogether 248 firms from 14 countries. On the first fair day 5871 visitors* came to the Exhibition Centre.
