Preliminary Final Report - GO and REGIONTOUR 2010 – tours and travelling at the Exhibition Centre
The traditional Central-European Travel Trade Fairs were attended by 1085 exhibiting firms from 19 countries on the exhibition space of 10 180 m². The highest number of visitors was surprisingly noted as early as on the first fair day, when almost 11 000 professionals came to the Exhibition Centre.

EXIM tours: it is always possible to offer something new
Travel agency EXIM tours presented, at this year’s fair, several novelties. It substantially modified its offer to Spain and Italy. In Spain, it newly offers tours to Andalusia, in Italy to Sicily and Calabria after last year’s successful premiere to Sardinia. Not even in Egypt new summer resorts are missing.

Hot novelties for the visitors to Southern Moravia
Some of the surprises of this year’s season are as follows: the opening of the first part of the Brno underground, Masaryk celebrations in Moravian Slovakia or the program “On the traces of Napoleon wars in Moravia”, prepared by the castle of Austerlitz.

Grand Prix REGIONTOUR or Our Region 2009
Traditional competition for the best tourist product, aimed at promoting regions, was held, this year for the first time, jointly with a similar competition Our Region, announced by the Publishing House C.O.T. media. A Jury of Assessment appraised almost ninety applications, entered for the competition by more than sixty tourist entities. Winners of three categories were ceremonially announced on the stage in Hall P.

Billions from EU will go to regions
The REGIONTOUR Fair has become the place of a ceremonial signature of a document on the EU subsidy to regional operation programs. The amount of 28.9 bill. CZK is targeted for the projects in transport, tourism and development of towns and communities in 2010.

Czech Convention Bureau: official start 2010
Czech Convention Bureau, aimed in particular at promoting incentive and congress tourism in the Czech Republic, has presented, today, its philosophy, new motto, logo and activities in 2010. Czech Convention Bureau has been operating, within the structure of the Czech Tourist Authority - CzechTourism and will be using the official abbreviation CzCB and the web pages www.czechconvention.com.

Workshop in the sign of congress tourism
This year’s workshop which enables exhibitors of REGIONTOUR to meet with professional visitors was in the sign of congress tourism. The workshop was a continuation of the so-called Meeting Points, staged by the Trade Fairs Brno in the past years and which always dealt with a certain segment, e.g. incoming or golf tourism.

Moravian regions again jointly
For five years South-Moravian, Zlín, Olomouc and Moravian-Silesian regions have had a joint promotion. The latest result of their cooperation in tourism is the Guide Book of a Hiker – Moravia and Silesia. The brochure with a map was ceremonially christened by Administrators at the REGIONTOUR Fair.

The Vysočina region at the Regiontour Fair
The Vysočina region at the head with the Administrator Jiří Běhounek, representatives of the Regional authority, the City of Jihlava and the contributory organization Vysočina Tourism presented today, at a press conference, activities by which they want to attract Czech and foreign visitors to their region. They are about 400 000 per year based on the 2008 data. Jihlava wants to attract visitors not only to its natural beauties, but also to the important anniversary of Gustav Mahler in 2010.

Slovakia: good reports not only for skiers
The Czech Republic has long been an attractive market for Slovak foreign tourism. Both the number of visitors and that of nights spent surpass 30 %. Based on the statistics, the number of Czech visitors in 2008 attained altogether 537 180 persons (33.05 %), their average stay was 3.2 days and the number of nights was the highest since 2003, amounting to 1 704 632 (34.87).

REGIONTOUR was launched by VIP guests
The 19th International Fair of Regional Tourism was opened by Minister for Local Development Rostislav Vondruška, Administrator of the South-Moravian Region Michal Hašek and the Lord Mayor of the City of Brno Roman Onderka by a symbolic cutting of a band. The ceremonial opening of the REGIONTOUR Fair was also attended by the delegation of administrators of the other regions and VIP from the Czech Republic and abroad.
