International Fair of Machinery, Equipment and Materials for the Wood Industry

The WOOD-TEC Trade Fair Will Introduce a number of innovations

On 18th – 21st October, the Brno Exhibition Centre will host the traditional wood-processing trade fair, the 12th year of the International Trade Fair of Machines, Tools, Equipment and Materials for the Wood-Processing Industry, WOOD-TEC 2011. This year, the exhibitors will present again not only traditional technologies and materials but a number of innovations and novelties in this field will be introduced.

Wood to be moisturised by water mist
The exhibit presented by the company DREKOMA – Ing. Vladimír Harazím, CSc., will introduce air moisturising systems by the Austrian company Merlin – Technology to the visitors. Relative ambient humidity will be measured directly at the stall using humidity meters and wood moisture meters by Merlin will be presented. During personal meetings at the exhibition centre, the existing customers can have the accuracy of their wood moisture meters checked. „During the trade fair, the hall will be refreshed with water mist, a new innovation to be introduced will be the moisture meters measuring wood chips moisture content designated as Evo Chips and Moistec Bio moisture meters said ing. Vladimír Harazím.
He added that the Merlin moisture meter establishes stabilised environment, reduces the occurrence and generation of electrostatic charge, dust level at the plant premises, reduces the costs of heating by approx. 25 percent etc. Relative air humidity in a room should range between 50 - 55 percent at a temperature of 21°C. Temperature and humidity should be in a continuous equilibrium.
„These parameters may not be achieved, particuarly during winter, unless we introduce humidity (water) to the environment artificially“ added Harazím.

Wood that saves space
The latest innovation to be introduced by the company TWIN is an innovative way of door opening: the ERGON system. It is a method of door opening with a combination of a "rotary and sliding" door leaf within a single mechanism. The ERGON system extremely minimises the demands for ground plan space taken by an open door leaf compared to the classic system by more than 40%.
It is used in places where two or three doors meet at one point and thus improves the accessibility and comfort of living in small and confined spaces. Fitting the door with the ERGON system requires just a small modification of a standard doorframe and the use of  a flush leaf. As a standard the door is single-leaf (up to the width of 150 cm), but they can also be supplied as double-leaf doors. The standard height is 220cm. Silent operation during door opening and closing is guaranteed up to a weight of 80kg.

Finger protectors for doors
Professional finger protectors for doors are provided by Finprotect Plus that will be introduced by OKENTĚS, s. r. o. A plastic profile provides safe protection against injury on both sides of the door. This is suitable for both flush and non-flush doors in schools, nurseries, hospitals and care homes. Easy installation, available in a range of colours and lengths of 198cm and 250cm.

Small CNC drill awaits a Czech premiere

Blum s.r.o.: You will be stunned to see the impressive way of opening the rubbish bin cupboard
The electric opening system SERVO-DRIVE uno will provide even more comfort in your kitchen mainly when sorting out rubbish. Operating the electric opening is a cinch even for a small kid. You can also buy it as an individual set. This innovation will be presented at the trade fair by Blum s. r. o.
Are your hands filled with things or wet and the rubbish bin cupboard is closed – who does not know such a situation from the every-day life in the kitchen? The company Blum specialising in fittings offers a perfect solution with SERVO-DRIVE uno: with a small dap at the cupboard front –with your side, knee or foot- the cupboard opens up by itself as if waving a magic wand. As this is the cupboard that gets opened and closed most often, the company Blum recommends that SERVO-DRIVE uno should be used here as a standard. The installation of this new solution is most comfortable, you can buy a pre-assembled complete set for stand-alone bins for sorted rubbish. There is also a similar solution to suspended bins for sorted rubbish so that the cupboards slide out in a reliable and comfortable way. Soft and silent closing is ensured by the well-proven damping function - BLUMOTION.

Wooden structures in 3D
The company WETO AG from Bavarian Tittling has developed a new software for trusses and roof structures. All programmes developed by this company enable simple control, and work in 2D and 3D environments. The features are graded according to the customer’s requirements offering modules starting from the simplest possible carpenter structures to the entire wooden structures.

Disabled door thresholds for passive houses – seal, absorb, but also ventilate
The company OKENTĚS, s. r. o. will present an innovation at the trade fair – dropping door thresholds for passive houses that seal, absorb, but also ventilate.
The dropping thresholds resolve the difficult problem of sealing the lower door edge in disabled environment and protect against draught, smoke, fire and noise up to 50dB reduction. These are products by Elton (Holland) and Planet (Switzerland), which have specialised in sealings for more than 60 years. Their quality and reliability are confirmed not only by relevant test rooms, but also by the companies' own tests carried out beyond the prescribed tests – for example, products of Planet ( out of 200,000 to 1 mil. cycles) and, above all, their long-term presence in the market. They are intended mainly for passive houses, where perfect sealing is not suitable for doors to bedrooms, bathrooms and toilets. Only these new special dropping thresholds by Planet enable the required ventilation.

New CNC machining centre with PENTA system will be presented by PANAS
The CNC TECH Z2 machining centre will premiere in the Czech market at the WOOD-TEC Trade Fair. It will be introduced in the exhibit in hall P (stall No. 61) by the company PANAS, spol. s r.o. This is a new series with the PENTA system and automatic positioning working table (beams + vacuum pads). The so-called „PENTA“ system is used to extend the number of controlled axes. The innovation consists in the application of a special PENTA angle head, which allows for automatic tilting of the tool in the 5th axis in a range of 0-100°. Moreover, tools clamped in the PENTA head are replaced from the tool cartridge automatically according to the working programme without any operator’s interventions. It is possible to clamp all commonly used types of tools (shank-type cutters, drills, circular-saw blades). This significantly enhances flexibility of the machine mainly in the field of job-order manufacture where it is often necessary to deal with requirements for angular machining (bevel joints, chamfered cuts, drilling of suspended door hinges, sharp angle milling, etc.). Thanks to the PENTA system it is no longer necessary to purchase other angular heads for the machine.

Nailing automatic machines for pallets with a unique drive made by the Rožnov company STÖRI MANTEL
The innovation presented by STÖRI MANTEL, s.r.o. at the WOOD-TEC Trade Fair will be a nailing automatic machines for pallets, SMPA 500.1 Electric Drive, using a unique idea of linear actuators as an electromechanical drive system. The new drive system introduces not only trouble-free operation, but also significant energy savings, which is directly reflected in  the possibility of increasing profit per pallet. „The advantages of this machine manufactured by our company include a low consumption of 1.2 kWh (compared to 10.2 kWh required by hydraulic systems), but this drive system does not require further costs of servicing, such as maintenance of the hydraulic system, i.e. replacement of oil, filters etc. The nailing automatic machine also meets the environmental requirements (no need to dispose of oil), is it safe and it fully complies with European standards. Another significant advantage is its low noise level,“ said Eva Žlebková, marketing manager of the company.
