Asian artistic confrontation of fashion ideas were brought to TOP STYL DESIGNER 2012 by a young author from Philippines Marian Andrada, working under nom de guerre Happy V Andrada. She managed to get among the seven finalists with her TRIANGULAR EVOLUTION collection balancing between avant-garde and streetwear. Besides other things she attracted visitors by the fabrics she is using, such as bamboo fibre, pineapple leaves, and water lily. Organic materials from her domestic resources are used in Andrada’s collection and she also makes great effort to promote them internationally.

“I learned about this competition from my friend in London and we both signed up,” says Marian Andrada about her participation in TOP STYL DESIGNER. It is her second visit to the Czech Republic and first time in Brno. She took several family members with her to act as fans and assistants. Marian “jumped” to Brno from London where she currently attends a short course at Central Saint Martin’s School of Art & Design and is looking for further study opportunities.

“The Brno competition was really good, I see it as an opportunity to present my collection of ten models at the European market. It was fun and also a new experience and I highly appreciate it. For me to get to the finale is like winning. I managed to get among the seven best, I am the only finalist from Asia, therefore it is a big thing for me in all aspects,” said the ever smiling Marian shortly after the announcement of the results.

Marian’s plans are not limited only to design and art. She is also active in business and organisation of events. In her country she owns a studio F*ART Fashion Art, two years ago she received an award for her activities of a young business woman: 10 Most Inspiring Young Entrepreneurs 2010 By Go Negosyo. “We have our own shop, we organise various events and I really like to change between several professions. The fact is that nowadays a good fashion designer must be well oriented in the market situation,” adds Marian Andrada.
