Monday visit from Livia Klausová
The wife of the President of Czech Republic, Mrs.
Livia Klausová, has been a regular visitor to the STYL and KABO fashion fairs
in Brno for many years. This year she spent the Monday morning browsing the
exhibited clothing, shoes, and fashion jewellery, paying visit to twelve
predominantly Czech companies and professional associations.
What took your attention at
this year’s visit to STYL and KABO?
This year the
character of the fairs is slightly different in the fact that the entire STYL
fair is presented at the new exhibition hall. Speaking of Czech companies – I
was happy to see some new faces and brands here. I am very interested in the
general debates whether and what new could be brought by the exhibitions to
preserve the beautiful tradition of trade fairs alive because it cannot live
off its tradition endlessly. I have been coming to the fashion fairs for many
years now. At the beginning the exhibitions focused mostly on business with
lots of people signing contracts and presenting new products. Time has changed
many things and so I take interest and watch all the new innovations the Brno
trade fairs come up with.
The finale of the young fashion designers’ competition
is taking place today. Did you ever try or wish to design your own clothing?
Would you like to be a young fashion designer today?
It is a
beautiful profession and although I do not follow fashion trends very closely I
gladly accept invitations to visit young fashion designers’ presentations held
by the design schools at the end of the year. I love young people’s original
and creative attitude to fashion. And whether I would like to be a fashion
designer myself? Well it would be definitely fun and I would be enjoying myself
greatly. I did make some adjustments to clothes I received as gifts to be able
to wear them. But to be a fashion designer you would not do with just enjoying
the creative process - one must be talented, gifted, full of ideas and able to
transform the ideas into final products.
