Calvin Klein is a women’s brand in Czech Republic
In global
perspective the Calvin Klein brand is preferred by men (55:45) but in the Czech
Republic three quarters of its customers are women. “Our key programme is ladies’ Calvin KLEIN that still has a
good growth potential,” says one of the regular exhibitors at STYL, Predrag
Ivosevic, representative of Donet Corporation, which is the exclusive
distributor of Calvin Klein Underwear in the Czech Republic since 2004.
There may be various explanations for this. Predrag Ivosevic sees the main reasons in the lower demand of Czech men for this brand as well as in the negative influence of fakes, which appear very often with men’s products easier to make than women’s lingerie.
“Each of the global brands is fighting for markets, therefore we need to come up with new ideas and collections every year,” says Predrag Ivosevic, and this applies also to their presentation at the trade fair in Brno. “We’ve had increased demand for the nightwear collections, loungewear, as well as knitwear that can be combined with lingerie, and dressing gowns. In the past few years lingerie often comes out in combination with matching tops, which was rather unusual couple of years ago,” says the exhibitor about the current fashion trends.
Besides Calvin Klein, Donet presents also other famous brands of ladies’ and men’s underwear and nightwear, swimwear, beachwear, accessories, and loungewear at the trade fair in Brno – DIESEL and VALERY, including the young collection ROSAPOIS. “Our range includes also lines of exclusive ladies’ lingerie. At a 2009 Paris trade fair the VALERY brand received the CREATEUR 2009 award for world’s best design of the year,” adds Predrag Ivosevic. A number of other brands offering high quality in medium and higher price categories are presented in Brno. “I think that this trend will be leading for us now. Better quality will find its customers who are willing to pay for something good and renowned. If the situation from the past few years is to repeat we can expect a slight increase in the demand of Czech and Slovak customers. We just have to bear in mind that the local customers are traditionally cautious and rather conservative in their choices, not willing to experiment with bold colours or styles and prefer the timeless classics.”
