Preliminary final report: Fashion fairs with premiere presentation of world-famous brands
The 37th International Fairs of Fashion, Footwear, and Leatherware STYL and KABO were held at three modern exhibition halls of the Brno Exhibition Centre as the biggest B2B presentation of the fashion industry and leading contracting event for the season autumn and winter 2011/2012 on the Czech and Slovak markets.
At the exhibition stands, which occupied the net exhibition area of 10,054 square metres, visitors could view the current offer of 625 clothing, footwear, and leatherware brands. The total of 391 exhibitors from 17 countries participated in the trade fairs, 42 companies visited Brno for the very first time.
The premiere brands at STYL included, among others, DKNY Donna Karan and Pleasure State in the lingerie segment, and Five Seasons, Iron Fist, Lego Wear, MAG móda, Butka Fur, Oleana, or Skunk Fung in clothing.
The new brands at KABO included United Nude, Sorel and Betty Barclay for the first time in the Czech Republic, or the revived brand Novesta.
The share of foreign exhibitors reached 26 percent. The majority of exhibitors came from Slovakia – 38 exhibitors, followed by Poland with twenty exhibitors and Germany with thirteen participating companies.
Accompanying programme focused on the hot topics of the current market. Great interest was expressed in seminar “Fashion design in the production of ready-to-wear clothing” with a presentation by a professor of design and marketing Josef Ťapťuch. Footwear retailers were addressed by a seminar dealing with the Customer protection Act and principles of the complaint procedure. Other seminars informed about a new project on the education of shop assistants selling shoes and the possibilities how to best use the trade fair for brand promotion.
Eight fashion designers passed through to the finale of the TOP STYL DESIGNER competition - from the Czech Republic, Slovakia, and for the first time also from Romania. The winner was Miroslava Horká, student of clothing design at Tomas Bata University in Zlín, with her collection “Profilo” inspired by geometric shapes and patterns.
The winners of the nineteenth TOP MODEL competition, which awards the best exhibits at KABO in terms of design, quality, and innovation, were Paolo Santini, Columbia Sportswear, and U100. Special awards were presented to exhibits by Caprice, Dermatex, and Unidax.
New fashion trends were presented at trend forums situated in the V, F, and P Halls. In all the three halls composed fashion shows were taking place at the same tame, presenting new collections by the exhibiting companies. There were thirty fashion shows in total, showing classical fashion, oversized fashion, lingerie, shoes, and children’s shoes. Young and student creations were presented in the collections of designers competing for the TOP STYL DESIGNER award, as well as the “Chic Plus” collection that was created under the guidance of Josef Ťapťuch at the Fashion Design Studio at the Academy of Arts, Design, and Architecture in Prague. The materials for the student’s models were provided by ATOK member companies.
The visitors to the social evening held on the first day of the STYL and KABO fashion fairs were enchanted by the collections of many exclusive models by the American designer of Slovak origin Louisa Dvorak. The entire fashion show titled ART & FASHION deeply impressed all of the viewers.
Data from the preliminary statistics
At the February STYL and KABO the visitor numbers are estimated to nearly reach the expected seven thousand visitors. More than 500 foreign visitors from 11 countries registered at the cash offices during the first two days. 113 media representatives from the Czech Republic and Slovakia got accredited at the Press Centre.
The 38th International Trade Fairs of Fashion and Footwear STYL and KABO will take place on new exhibition days – Sunday to Tuesday August 21 – 23, 2011.
