A forum of experts
Salima in Brno is also an important discussion platform for experts from the food industry and a place of top meetings of politicians. It is considered a centre of alimentary business in the new Member States of the European Union and traditionally plays host to meetings at ministerial level, under the auspices of European Commissioners.
This year's FOOD FORUM international conference will be held on Tuesday 28 February and will have the theme "Ways to Sustain Food Production, Food Quality and Development of Local and Regional Markets." Organizers include the Ministry of Agriculture and the Federation of the Food and Drink Industries of the Czech Republic, the Czech side will be represented by Minister of Agriculture Petr Bendl, Food Chamber President Miroslav Toman and Agricultural Chamber president Jan Veleba. Prominent speakers include Slovak Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development of the Slovak Republic Simon Zsolt and Polish Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Marek Sawicki. FOOD FORUM conference will also be attended by representatives of the Directorate General for Public Health and Consumer Protection of the European Commission (DG SANCO), the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) and European Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development.
