International Engineering Fair
Negative news about the economic development remained outside the gates of the Brno Exhibition Centre. The number of exhibiting companies increased by 17 percent to 1873, which is the best result since 2008. Companies came from 32 countries and the share of foreign participants exceeded 50 percent for the first time. Participation from countries with rapidly growing economies in the BRIC group was quite extraordinary.
Ovako has won the contract to supply Macalloy with structural steel for the world´s first long span network arch bridge, currently under construction in Prague.
An incoming mission from Spain was welcomed by CzechTrade agency at their stand. A Spanish company communicated a demand in plastic injection moulding and metal die casting and the CzechTrade agency found them Czech companies as counterparts, who would be able to meet their requirements.
One of the events that the Chamber of Commerce Switzerland - Czech Republic prepared for its members was held at the Brno Exhibition Centre today. During the International Engineering Fair the Association has prepared a B2B meeting, which is intended, as the name implies, for quick meeting and making new contacts.
Business Day of the Russian Federation, which is traditionally organized by the Chamber for Commercial Relations with CIS, together with other partners, is a permanent item of the International Engineering Fair. A filled Moravia Room in Hall A and today's optimistic greetings of the speakers, among them the first Vice-Chairman of the Czech Senate Přemysl Sobotka and Minister of Industry and Trade Martin Kuba, however, indicated that we can expect greater momentum in the Czech-Russian trade relations.
Austrian engineering and industrial companies regard MSV as the most important trade fair in the region. Sonja Zwanzl, President of the Chamber of Commerce of Lower Austria stated it at a press conference in Brno and simultaneously pleaded for a speedy completion of the motorway connecting Brno and Vienna.
The engineering group VÍTKOVICE MACHINERY GROUP have been extremely successful at this year's engineering fair. The won one of the main prizes and honourable mention in the competition for the MSV 2012 Gold Medal and concluded several important supply contracts, including Russia and Pakistan. The President of the Czech Republic stressed the importance of our engineering and the Brno trade fair. In connection with the new priorities of Czech foreign trade he praised the choice of India as the partner country. At the same time he warned against raising tax rates and stressed the urgent need for systemic changes in public finance, which should also affect mandatory spending.
The largest ever exhibition of Indian Industry in Central and Eastern Europe opened in hall Z today. The India Show which brings together 130 Indian companies was inaugurated by the Ministers of Industry and Commerce of both countries, Martin Kuba for the Czech Republic and Mr. Anand Sharma representing India.
The Russian Federation confirms interest in cooperation with Czech companies in engineering by a high turnout of exhibitors. Some 80 companies and 300 guests came to Brno, including representatives of Russian universities, research and development institutes and various regions of the country.
