Medical Summit Brno – a Week of the Healthcare in Brno was unambiguously the greatest home meeting of professionals in various fields of medicine and lots of spheres of healthcare and social-welfare care. Speakers at international conferences were Czech and foreign scientific “capacities”. Almost 4 000 spectators will attend the accompanying events, staged from Sunday, October 17 to Saturday, October 23.
The greatest event of this year’s run was of a surgical character. For the first time in the history, the 38th Mutual Congress of Czech and Slovak Surgeons, the 7th Czech Surgical Congress, the 5th International Congress on Miniinvasive and Robotic Surgery and the 4th Interactive Congress of Professionals from Seven Countries were staged in the only place. The meeting was extraordinary by both its scope – being attended by almost 800 professionals from seven countries – and the standard of lectures.
On the opening day of the fair the traditional Day of Hospitals took place, devoted to the prepared reform of the Czech healthcare eHealth Days 2010. To specialist accompanying events of the highest participation also the following events belonged: the 6th Annual Conference of the Czech Society for Sterilization STERIL.CZ, the conference Sister as a social professional, the 22nd International Congress of the Czech Medical Society J.E.Purkyně on the topic Image methods in medicine, the 18th International Conference of Hospital Epidemiology and Hygiene and the conference a City without barriers, staged by the National Council of the Disabled. Traditional accompanying events were extended by some new ones, e.g. Conference on Magneto-therapy and Conference Therapy in neurology.
For the fifteenth time the project “For Your Smile” – the greatest home presentation of non-governmental, non-profit organizations and Protected workshops, including consultancy, seminars and a stage program for visitors has been a part of the fair. Not even preventive programs and activities, promoting a healthy lifestyle, were missing. Their justification has been proven by the results of examinations, carried out during the fair at a mobile healthcare center in front of hall V; also two cases of a melanoma were found here.
What was said about the fair:
Leoš Heger, Minister of Health, Czech Republic:
In the past I attended the Day of Hospitals as a Manager of a hospital, this time I am here as minister. I was surprised at the participation of high officials and VIP of our healthcare system. Unfortunately I am leaving for Brussels to take part in discussions of ministers of health so that I will have no time to view the fair, but next year, if I am still minister of health, I would like to stay here longer.
Peter Kothaj, Chairman of the Slovak Surgical Society:
The Brno congress is the most important event of the year for the Czech and Slovak surgery. Slovak surgeons like coming to the Czech Republic and this year’s run is extraordinarily attractive also thanks to the jointly held Congress on Miniinvasive and Robotic Surgery. In Slovakia, the robotic surgery has not been at all developed so that we are greatly interested in the experience of our Czech colleagues and participating foreign professionals. From this point of view, this year’s congress is of a high importance for the Slovak surgeons.
Jan Žaloudík, emeritus dean of the Medical Faculty MU, Chairman of the Jury of Assessment of the Medical Fair Award 2010 Competition:
Our seven-member Jury learned a lot during appraisal and it was undoubtedly an interesting experience. The assessment of the exibits is a useful and good work, as everything which happens at the fair every year, should be more promoted. There are technologies which help short-time and long-time patients and I am pleased to be able to participate in this work.
Tomáš Hajský, PR Manager of the company Otto Bock CZ s.r.o.:
We like attending the Brno fair as it is of a high standard. We appreciate this year’s transfer to hall V which has better services and all firms are concentrated on one space. We come here in particular to find new customers, in which we are successful, the number of visitors is high. We also meet here our regular customers and ask them about their requirements so that the fair is an important event for us. Next time, we want to bring all novelties available.
Jana Podrápská, Manager of the Association Piafa, Vyškov:
We are for the first time at the Brno fair. Our participation is of importance for us as a promotion of hippotherapy and canistherapy, however, it is also a presentation of our offer. We meet our clients here as well as the providers of similar services. We also establish business partnerships here, cooperate e.g. with social-welfare institutions and establish new contacts. We like coming here and if possible, we will bring here also animals.
The next run of the Medical Fair Brno Central Europe/Rehaprotex will be staged from October 18 – 21, 2011.
