Preliminary final report GO and Regiontour 2012
The biggest Central European Travel Trade Fairs focusing on regions presented, to both the specialists and the general public, an offer of more than a hundred international destinations. Companies from 20 countries participated in the Trade Fair and exhibited on 10,400 m2. During the four days, the Trade Fairs were visited by almost 30 thousand people, both experts in travelling and clients. Foreign visitors came from 12 countries, especially from the neighbouring Slovakia, Germany, Poland and also Croatia, individual visitors came for example from the USA, Sweden or Spain.
Croatia is still attractive to Czechs, the island of Vir was newly presented in Brno
The total number of tourists in Croatia is still increasing. As statistics from the past three years show, visitors from the Czech Republic significantly contribute to this fact. Last year 4.7% more Czech tourists came to Croatia than the year before and they also spent more days there.
The Municipality of Udine Invites You to the Land of Patriarchs
Yesterday in Brno, the North Italian municipality of Udine introduced their new tourism project called Terra dei patriarchi: the Land of Patriarchs. The base consists of twelve itineraries which link interesting places together and encourage you to travel in the footsteps of patriarchs in connection with getting to know local culture and gastronomy.
About religious tourism with the Cardinal Dominik Duka
The visitors today paid great attention to the workshop about religious tourism. Projects which are being realised, or are just about to be, were presented in a completely full hall. Another theme talked about was the economic potential of religious tourism, pilgrimage trails and tourism which is in some way related to the issue. The participation of the Cardinal Dominik Duka caught great interest of many visitors.
The Trade Fairs were inaugurated by a symbolic ribbon-cutting ceremony
The trade fairs GO and REGIONTOUR have been officially inaugurated in pavilion P by a ribbon-cutting ceremony, which was performed by the President of the Senate of the Parliament of the Czech Republic Milan Štěch, the Minister of Regional Development Kamil Jankovský, the Minister of Culture Alena Hanáková, the Cardinal Dominik Duka, the Governor of the South Moravian region Milan Hašek, the Mayor of Brno Roman Onderka and the Chief Executive Officer of Brno Trade Fairs Jiří Kuliš.
Tourism Grand Prix knows its winner
The travel agency Kovotour Plus or the tourism product Pilgrimage Trails of Eastern Moravia were among those who were awarded the prize. The results of the competition, which promotes extraordinary and high quality acts in tourism and highlights attractive novelties, have been officially announced at REGIONTOUR.

A supporting programme is prepared in cooperation with trade fair sponsors, professional associations and the region, mapping the current situation in tourism and responding to current problems.
European Pilgrim Association at GO and REGIONTOUR fairs
Chruch tourism is a highlighted theme of GO and REGIONTOUR fairs. Pilgrimages and visits to sacred sites are a traditional and important part of world tourism, which, unlike other segments of tourism are not overly dependent on external influences.
Regional cuisine with master chefs
After a successful premiere at REGIONTOUR last year the Czech Specials project returns, promoting Czech cuisine and regional specialities. Visitors can look forward to a closer acquaintance with the Czech and Moravian gastronomic tradition.
