Tourism Grand Prix knows its winner
The travel agency Kovotour Plus or the tourism product Pilgrimage Trails of Eastern Moravia were among those who were awarded the prize. The results of the competition, which promotes extraordinary and high quality acts in tourism and highlights attractive novelties, have been officially announced at REGIONTOUR.
The Tourism Grand Prix 2011/2012 was organised by Brno Trade Fairs and C.O.T. Media publishing house in order to improve the quality of the novelties and services in tourism of the Czech Republic. The winner of the Best Tourism Product category was “Pilgrimage Trails of Eastern Moravia”, a product mainly intended for people who have an interest in history, culture, traditions and religion. The sightseeing can be combined with a walking or a cycling tour of the trail which connects the most significant pilgrimage sites in Moravia, with resting and regenerating your body in spas or with gastronomic tourism. The second place went to “The Tour of Jablonec” which includes a game book with twenty stories and small tasks connected to the visited places. The winner of the third place is “The Silver Key to Kutná Hora”, which is a joint ticket to eight main monuments of Kutná Hora together with other visitor benefits. The special prize of the C.O.T. Media publishing house goes to CK ESO Travel for their Journey Around the World. This absolutely unique product within Central and Eastern Europe is a luxurious 24-day-tour of the most outstanding places of the planet on board of a private jet. The journey will take place in April 2012 and was sold out within a fortnight.
The winner of the Best Regional Promotion Campaign was the Ústí region and its campaign “The Gate to Bohemia” which includes e.g. creating of a new tourist portal, a Facebook campaign, a photo competition and other interconnected activities. The jury also liked the campaigns of the tourist area of Pálava and the Lednice-Valtice Area and of the Czech Switzerland National Park, the special prize of Brno Trade Fairs went to the “Top Tourist Destinations of Southern Moravia”.
In the category of Tourist Portals the jury judged especially the quantity and the quality of information, the number of language versions, the graphic design of the website and its user-friendliness. The winner was the official tourist informational portal of the Pardubice region vychodni-cechy.info which includes nine language versions, a practical trip planner, a booking system of accommodation and tickets to cultural and sports events in the region and last but not least it is linked to the social network Facebook. The runner-ups were tourism.olomouc.eu and msregion.cz of the Moravian-Silesian region.
The special category of this year's competition The Best Golf Package chose from offers for golf players. The winner was Tourist Resort Valachy Velké Karlovice with their special package “Golf in Beskydy” which offers visiting three golf pitches, wellness, events for non-playing company etc. The first runner-up was the “Golf Holiday Courses for Children and Youngsters in Kořenec” package and the second runner-up was Pilsen's “Holiday Golf Package WEEKEND or MONDAY-FRIDAY”.
The results of the Best Travel Agent were expected with tremendous excitement because instead of a jury the agents were voted for by the general public on Sdovolená.cz. The candidates were picked from all travel agencies dealing with both foreign and domestic travel in the Czech Republic and 3296 people participated in the voting. The biggest number of votes went to Kovotour Plus, CK Adventura was close behind and Exim Tours won the third place. The special prize of Sdovolená.cz went to Čedok travel agency, founded in 1920, which makes it the longest operating travel agency in Central Europe.
