International Motor Show (June 3 – Press and Trade Day)
What their plans for Brno are...
During the Geneva Motor Show we interviewed the PR Manager for the Czech and Slovak Republics Martin Hejral at the OPEL stand.
What can be look forward to? In March it will be the innovated small Corsa model. In April it will be followed by the modernised SUV Opel Antara. An absolute revolution took place under the bonnet of this sports-utility vehicle. According to Martin Hejral, the OPEL representative, motorists will be surprised to see how quietly the new 2.2 litre turbo diesel delivering 163 or 183 hp runs. “You can hardly hear it at all in the driver’s cab,” he added. The German company also brought the Zafira concept to Geneva. The production version of this descendant of the successful large-capacity family car may appear at the motor show in Frankfurt in the autumn.
Sales of yet another product will be launched this year – the fully electric Ampera. In this case the batteries of the car are charged with a small on-board 1.4 l combustion engine. After the first ca 60 kilometres it powers the batteries with the required energy. Charging of the electric source from the distribution network lasts ca four hours. Sales of the Ampera electric car will be launched in the autumn of this year, first of all on the largest European markets in Germany, France and Great Britain. Czech journalists will make the acquaintance of the novelty probably at the end of this year. The first fleet clients in our country will be companies involved in energy distribution; no doubt they will appreciate the low operation costs for this indeed managerial and official vehicle. The price of the Ampera model will range around one million CZK, VAT included.
You can look forward to seeing all these novelties at the Opel stand at this year’s Autosalon motor show to be held in Brno in June.
