Measuring, control, automation and regulation technology
Automation is a key sector this year
The cross-sectional AUTOMATION project was declared the main theme of MSV 2014 - focusing on measurement, control, automation and control technology. The project is organized in cooperation with the Czech-Moravian Electrical and Electronic Association and adds visibility to possibilities of automation in various sectors of the fair. This year's seventh edition will again be concentrated primarily in the Hall Z, where, after last year's successful premiere, a robotic park opens again as an exhibition of novelties by companies focused on the industrial use of robots. Applications have been received by industry leaders such as Olympus, UNIS, National Instruments, Mitutoyo, KUKA; more new exhibitors are reported from the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Germany.
Exhibitors find several advantages in participating in the AUTOMATION project – it is an important topic in the MSV advertising and media campaign, registered trade visitors are specifically addressed with information on news and trends in industrial automation and organized tours of the exhibitions by students of electrical engineering are also planned. The project also includes an accompanying programme for experts; the traditional competition for the best exhibits will culminate with the awarding of the Gold Medal for the best innovative exhibit in industrial automation, measurement, control, automation and control technology. Last year’s AUTOMATION 2013 was attended by 229 exhibitors from twelve countries, the share of foreign participants increased from 19 to 26 percent.
A traditional MSV participant, the company KUKA Roboter CEE are preparing a presentation of a revolutionary innovation– the first robot designed for direct cooperation with humans. LBR iiwa (intelligent industrial working assistant) is the latest robot from a large family of industrial robots by KUKA and is the first mass-produced robot in the world that has one of the human senses – touch. The basis of its ability lies in a torque sensor in all seven axes through which it can work even with inaccurate items. In addition, it can be programmed by hand and it all allows an unprecedented range of benefits of a human operator and the robot. A human can assess visual stimuli more quickly, is flexible and adaptable to changes in the manufacturing process, while the robot is faster, more accurate, and can perform even complex tasks repeatedly. Other advantages of using this new robot in production include lower demands on the grippers, easier sensors, thanks to seven axes a better ability to maintain the orientation of a tool or perhaps a chance to teach the robot various movements using hand navigation. The first mass-produced robot with touch sense will have its Central European premiere at MSV, visitors will be able to touch this cutting-edge technology and see it also in a practical demonstration.
A specialist in measurement technology, PRIMA BILAVČÍK company, introduces visitors to multisensory measuring machines by WERTH, mobile FARO CMMs, 3D optical systems by AICON-BREUCKMANN, TESA coordinate measuring machines or VISION measuring microscopes. Their featured novelty is a two-camera Geomagic Capture 3D scanner, which is due to its properties ideal for both designers and dimensional control.
Renishaw have been exhibiting at MSV for 20 years and it is the most important trade fair of the year for them, as it allows the company to meet with all relevant partners, colleagues and customers in one place. This year they will present, among others, a new clamp kit for coordinate measuring machines - a modern method for clamping workpieces on the measuring machine table, unlimited by shape or material of the measured piece. A novelty this year is presented on the market under the trade name ATOM, it is the smallest position sensor with integrated filtering optics in the world. The unique device provides very quick feedback, has excellent reliability and high resistance to contamination, all in ultra-compact miniature size. Renishaw also manufactures and supplies equipment for 3D printing of metal elements from titanium, aluminium, steel and many other materials. They were also the first in the world to use the 3D technology to print a titanium mountain bike, which will be one of the exhibits at MSV 2014.
Another regular participant, the company UNIS will especially delight anyone interested in the aerospace industry with their novelties in control engineering. The exhibited turbo-propeller engine TP100 borrowed from the First Brno Engineering company will be used to present the CPSP display control unit, which provides the starting sequence, controls the fuel and oil pump, the actual engine speed, etc. During the fair, they will also show a demonstration of the control unit for fuel and hydraulic pumps for aircraft Ae270 and L-410. For those interested in manufacturing information systems, UNIS are preparing a presentation of a product named MES PHARIS ® (version 4.0) with a demonstration of the system itself, including the functionalities of the production terminal.
The presentation of advanced technologies in automation and robotics is also the focus of the accompanying programme. On Tuesday 30 September you can attend the traditional conference, Machines Communicate. On the same day there will be a conference called Energy for the Future XIII: Efficient Energy Management in Industrial Production and on Wednesday 1 October, the Visions in Automation - Digital Factory conference is traditionally held. A Czech-Slovak meeting of Electrical Engineers will again be held during MSV 2014.
